So today I registered my appt, paid for the courier service and booked my medical.

All my docs are in order

I just need to get my medical summary from my GP and I’m going to order the 2019 transcripts when I can “just in case”

Just to add.... my wife says to say that there is seating outside for spouses to sit and it's really pretty there.  Little pond and grass and although we didnt use them there seemed to be a little porta cabin for toilets.

Toilets weren’t open when I was there a few weeks ago, I think they’re only in use when the bar opposite is open.

But there’s lots of outdoor seating around outside the embassy, and the pond and landscaped gardens are very pretty

Just one for the interview at the embassy; they scan it digitally for you there.

Just one. They scan it and give it back.

Thing is, even their website still says to bring in 4 passport photos. Hubby will still probably get them to take with just in case.

Just wanted to give anybody a heads up in case their about to have a medical. They do take photos digitally now but that’s not always the case. I had my first medical back in December and they took my photos digitally.

Due to coronavirus I now have had to rebook for a new medical. I was confused about the 4 passport photos to bring to the medical since last time they didn’t end up needing it. I gave them a call and the lady said they’re doing ours on paper so we will in fact need the 4 passport style photographs.

So maybe it’s something to do with having to redo the medical? Also for anybody who doesn’t know, if your medical expired during coronavirus you get a discount of £100, that was nice.

So anybody having the medical, don’t just go by other people’s experiences, it could be different for you, unless you get a email specifically asking you not to bring the photos than you still have to bring them.

From the category of "Might as well get it outta the way". When you go for your medical it appears they want a copy of your Medical Summary from your GP. Just called our GP and looks like it can take up to a week or better sometimes to get this. We needed to make the request in writing including the reason for the Summary and deliver it to the GP office where they would begin processing it and we should get it next week.

It's unfortunate that some GP practices make people do this. Literally all it takes for the secretary at the front desk is to press the "print" button on your Summary Care Record - so around 20 seconds of work. Thankfully yours didn't charge you for it.

I have my medical on Friday. I booked it two weeks ago, went out and got 8 US sized photos taken for a cost of £16 in a booth, then yesterday got an Email saying I didn't need the photos! I'll take them anyway just in case, but now I have a surplus of 6 photos! At least I can use them for my drivers license in the US I guess!

And you can use them for your interview at the embassy

Where are people checking their visa status after the invite - ie 'Ready', 'Issued' etc? The link I was given by the CO still just says 'Appointment' and gives directions to the embassy. Been almost two weeks, so maybe I'm premature in worrying but I can't help myself lol

I only had mine on Monday but I keep checking

ceac.state.gov/

and

ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/account/

The first one currently says administrative processing but I think I remember seeing someone say that it was normal for it to say that before it  then says approved.

Thank you. The second one is the one they gave me. The first one I hadn't tried - it says AP, I can only hope it's the short kind...

My case is showing as Attend appointment and on CEAC - Ready. I think it only just changed today and I did this last week. I could be wrong but I believe it takes a few days to trickle to all the systems.

As for my GP - The medical summery was free, they just had to ask my DR for approval and then I had to pay £10.80 for a statement regarding depression as it was recent.

Did you already receive the statement and summary?  My partner paid his invoice for his but they said it would take 4 weeks to get to him (even though his GP office is right around the corner and he could have popped over to pick it up....!)

Seems different Drs do it differently.  I emailed my surgery asking for a patient care summary report and they emailed it back over within a few hours, with no fee.

Is it the basic summary you are asking for, as I imagine a full medical records taking longer and costing and taking weeks, but not the summary.  My summary included a report on migraines from neurology too as that was recent

I went in on Monday and by Tuesday they called and told me to pick it up - Normally my doctors office seems to run by the "You want it when" attitude but this was less than 24. In 48 Hrs I had the extra statement which cost me £10.80

Remember to also get your Vaccine list, too.
