Are spouses allowed to come to the embassy for the interview? Just took it for granted that it would be ok.  But reading different things online now.  Some saying have to contact ahead of time.

Also also lol whats the deal with the public charge forms.  Are they required along with work certificates etc?

On the day we interviewed (July 6th) none of the spouses were allowed in. This in spite of all of us having registered them in advance.

If it was a "difficult case" they could call them up if they waited by security, but since I was in for only 40 min the CO said it wouldn't make sense to ask for my spouse to come up; "I'd be out of there in no time."

No public charge forms were requested, they did ask everyone verbally about what our plans were regarding health insurance.

Thank you.

I've prepared to folders. One with all the specifically asked for documents and forms etc. And a spare with public charge, proof of quotes for health insurance, additional photos, property lease signed by wife etc.

Glad yours went well! :)

I have a feeling they are holding off on asking for the public charge form because of the current legal case being done in the US. I'll have ours with us when it is time for the interview regardless, but I think that is why no one has been asked about it yet.

Based on the experiences of a handful of people who have had their IR1/CR1 interviews at the London Embassy over the past few weeks, the DS-5540 Public Charge form has not been requested. This may change in the future, but it looks like, for now, you don't need to submit one. The only question related to this that people were asked was about their plans for obtaining health insurance.

They can’t ask - a judge over ruled ruled it

If NVC assigned you an interview date, then you register that appointment you already have (choice #1) and it will take you on to courier arrangements. This one won’t take you to a calendar of open appointment dates to pick your choice of dates because you already have been assigned a date by NVC.

If you are DCF that never went to NVC and the embassy provided you a case number so you could go online and pick your own appointment it’s #2.

If you got expedited out of NVC before they assigned your interview and you have no appointment date, then you have to schedule an appointment, meaning pick a date yourself online. #2

Exactly this. Hopefully this remains true for the rest of the year. That form is a pain really. :)

I used the first option :) It's confusing TBH - Why Would I need to register for an appointment I already have ;l) Well it's just to set up the courier but also there other options in there but you can ignore them if you're happy with the date you have. I believe you also need to print off the registered appointment slip.

Hey all something I just noticed today:
At https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/medical-examination/ you can get the list of required documents you need for your medical exam.

"For applicants aged 16 and over, a UK police certificate (known as an ACRO) issued within the past 6 months;"

Ours were issued just before all this chaos began in march they'll be over 6 months old by the time we get to medical I assume. There might be an exception for this rule due to the current circumstance but I for one am ordering a new one.

This is incorrect. I contacted the medical staff directly and they said issued within the last 12 months is fine.

Mine was 10 months old when I attended my medical.

Feel free to reach out to Knightbridge directly if you have any doubts.

In fact, I'd recommend checking their website, since the embassy one is out of date:

And don’t they take your photo now, so won’t need the 4 passport photos?

I think they mean confirm the appointment, which would have been a better word than register.
