F1 Visa Application at NVC

Hi All,

First post on here for 6 years so be gentle :-) I have just read about the extension of the Executive Order banning mine and other categories of visa until the end of the year and have a couple of questions if i may.

After waiting for my priority date to become current for the last 6 years i was finally able to proceed to the next step for my F1- (Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens) a few days before the initial 60 pause for this and other visa categories by Pres. Trump. So i received NVC Case number allowing me to fill in my DS-260 form, send my documents pay the fees and my father has submitted the Affidavit of Support and the case is now at the NVC for processing.

My question is around how much will get processed during the pause due to the Executive Order? Will the visa application just sit on a desk somewhere for the next (at least) 6 months gathering dust or will the NVC still look at it and inform me of any issues with the documents etc? Giving me time to correct any mistakes whilst not a lot is going on. Then once everything is completed and in order just pause the process until they can stamp my passport? Or will i just get paused completely then possibly have to correct issues with the application once everything starts up again?

Would I still have an Embassy interview during the pause once the Embassies re-open? Or will they only schedule an embassy interview when they are in a position to offer me the visa again. I'm guessing that the embassy interview is pointless as i read that the medical is only valid for 6 months so if i'm not moving to the USA in that time due to the pause i guess i'd have to have another medical rendering the first one pointless.

I appreciate any information anyone is able to share to help me work out what will happen next for me.

Thanks in advance

NVC will process your case, but they say this:  Please note, as result of April 22, 2020 Presidential Proclamation, we are reviewing documents for cases not subject to the travel restrictions first.

People who are not included in the ban have priority, definetly expect a long wait at NVC, but until the ban is lifted you can't get an interview.
