I could be wrong, but I believe green card approvals have been delayed/halted according to reports, that doesn't mean applications will be denied.

Immigrant visas for certain categories have been halted, not all of them. About half of immigrant visa categories (by annual number of visas issued) are still eligible to receive visas. You don’t need to rely on reports, you can go read the presidential proclamations of 22 April and 22 June and find out for yourself.

I have been talking about USCIS. You have a link that says green cards will continue to be issued to the U.S American family members?

Again, read the proclamations rather than “reports”. Uscis is responsible for approving green cards within the US (adjustment of status). The proclamations only apply to visa issuance to people outside the US. Very clearly stated.

And yes IR and CR 1 and 2 categories, around half of annual visas issued, are still eligible to receive visas.

Well that is different. Yes employer based visas have been stopped.  H1B, H2B, Ls, etc have nothing to do with bringing family members of Citizens of the US to the US which is what this thread is about and has always been about.

And consulates do not issue green cards.  USCIS issues them after they arrive to the US.    Get to the US on a VISA that has already been issued and you still get a green card.  It is right there in the EOs I've cited.

I was referring to historical processing.

For those EOs specifically, I am going off the wording of the EOs themselves. Nothing in them touches anything with green cards in the US. Read them yourself.

You are reading something that simply is not there.

The article incorrectly says green cards where it means immigrant visas. It's not unusual for a news outlet to not differentiate between visas and status.

Immigrant visas have been halted (with some exceptions). Green cards are not issued to anybody abroad.

Still not clear on how EO will impact processing times.

I understand press report could be misleading. I guess the best way is to read the orders themselves. But I believe the green card issuance for the applicants outside the U.S has been frozen? Correct me if I am wrong.

It is pretty self explanatory according to NPR unless you think it is fake news. It says Trump froze all green cards in May. Can you find me a link that shows otherwise?

Found another link, that might clear things out a bit better. The green cards issued for applicants outside United States has been frozen.

https://time.com/5857490/trump-work-visa-green-card-ban-coronavirus/#:~:text=(WASHINGTON) — The Trump administration said Monday that, used heavily by technology companies and multinational corporations.

Either they are wrong or you misunderstood what they said, it’s nonsense that “all green cards were frozen”. NONSENSE. Even when it only refers to visas. NONSENSE .consuiates have been shut down for covid. They are reopening. Vietnam starts interviewing again for IR/CR1&2 visas next week.

Because it doesn’t. Go read the forums, peopel are still regularly reporting receiving notice of approvals,  receipts, RFE etc.

Sure. Anyway, I am glad I don't have to deal with this anymore, and I do agree it is easy to be misled into panicking by press sometimes, and what the WH does may or may not have a major impact on the applicants, but the intention from the White House is politically driven. Good luck.

Not all green cards are frozen. Yes, I misread and NPR's article isn't very clear, but you don't have to be so extreme in bashing and attacking people like me that might have been misled.

I've provided the links - you can skip the chat at the top and read the So ordered parts.

True - but visas will still be processed for family members of US Citizens -which is what this thread is about.   If are wanting to argue green cards for work visas or visas for family members of LPRs you should post in that those topic.

I got to that extreme because people kept on explaining and explaining and you kept on refusing to budge from your mistaken position. At last, something worked.

I didn't kept refusing. NRP misled me, but your extreme attacks are silly and unnecessary.
