These questions are being asked frequently at the moment, and nobody has an answer since this is a new situation. I recommend the search function on the site, and here's one post with good responses:

I know that once embassies open back up there will probably be additional delays, but normally, how long does it take? I’m not sure if I misread it or not, but I saw that processing for B1/B2 can take 6 months? Is this true? Another source said only a few weeks. So I’m confused lol

No one can answer those questions.  The shutdowns will inevitably create delays due to backlogs at the consulates for ALL visa types.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for your response. But I’m not asking how long it will take after embassies reopen...no one has a definitive answer on that. I’m just curious to know what the typical wait time is for a B1/B2. I saw 3-5 weeks in one place and 3-6 months in another.

Yes I understand that no one has a definitive answer. I just was curious about how long it normally takes. Thanks for the response!

Under normal circumstances it depends on the specific embassy and their wait times. One embassy might have little traffic and interviews available within a week of filing the DS-160, another might have a backlog of multiple months.

Before CoViD B1 or B2 or the popular variation of B1/B2 are granted on the spot after interview and issued within 10 working days . But we all know things have changed. If your embassy is already open you can check wait times using the link bellow.

Totally depends on which consulate you're talking about.

“Typical“ varies by country. Wait times for interviews have varied from a few days at some embassies to months, even around a year at others, though the latter is rare.
