Fantastic. Thank you for sharing your experience and congratulations on getting through it. I wish I had seen your other forum post asking about the lateral view chest X-ray as I would have tried to reassure you back then! I rarely request a lateral view, unless I've seen a slight anomaly (e.g., a small indeterminate nodule) on the regular view. The lateral view just allows you to 1) confirm that it isn't an imaging artifact and 2) if it is indeed present, to get a better idea of dimensions. I'm glad to hear it turned out to be nothing.

Can I just confirm: you weren't asked to present a DS-5540?

Thanks! Yeah, I guess it was that, I only panicked because the one other person who'd had a lateral view done ended up being delayed for the TB testing. I know very little about x-rays, so in my mind, it was going to be the same result. I spiralled a bit, lol!

I was not asked for a DS-5540! Not even mentioned, though I had prepared it just in case.

— I was told to sign up for visa applicant services (here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/users/sign_in). I tried to book the courier but it tries to have you schedule an interview and didn't seem to register I already had one. So you can try! I've kinda been given the runaround, so getting my passport back will be interesting.

Did you choose the below reason?  That should allow you to book the courier without being taken to choosing an interview date.

  • Select “I have received a Consular interview appointment date from the National Visa Center (NVC), Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), or the Consular Section and I have been instructed to register my appointment on this site”;

Have tried those too lol, they're not picking up phones right now, it's all automated info right through to the end.

I have emailed both them and the embassy again, I'm just waiting on replies.

It was an expedited interview, there were no medical appointments available beforehand. 🙂

I did, but I can't book the courier, because it's asking me for an interview date and won't let me select one as soon as the one I had (or in the past now). Site doesn't work for expedites that go that quick, I guess.

Did they tell you at the embassy after your appointment that you were basically approved pending your medical? Or do they leave you hanging a little and don't confirm either way?

They give you a form called a 221G and tick off a box saying "Refused pending..." and then specify what's pending. So for me, it was medical, and she told me everything else is fine (other options on the form include needing a co-sponsor, etc.).

Even if they don't confirm, if they keep your passport, you know they're expecting that it's about to be fine and they're about to put the visa in it.

Which location is it for pick up:

There's a London Chancery Lane and a London Swanley?

Which London address do you choose for pick up? There's like 5.

If you don’t plan to remain in London for a week or more, you should choose home delivery or a pickup location closest to your home.  There should be more than five locations scattered all across the U.K.

So, I currently live in the Republic of Ireland, but I can then get it sent to Belfast. What all does my dad need if I put him down as a third party to pick it up for me?

I don’t know how London is your processing embassy. It should be Dublin.

Delivery to his home address is only about 24 quid. Not a huge amount considering all you’re spending to get to London for a medical exam and interview. Quite frankly the delivery chaps don’t often bother to ask for ID, but they say some ID from you like a driver license or credit card should be shown by the third party. Pick up is no faster than delivery.
