Question about EAD and application processing

Hi everyone - fully prepared for this to not be something that's answerable given the one-two punch of the pandemic and process reforms.

I submitted the AOS application, with all the bells and whistles, on April 25. Got 797C through soon thereafter.

We've been waiting to hear about biometric appointment ever since. I'm aware that there's quite a logjam.

What I'm wondering is if any processing of my application (such as the EAD) is going on in the background, or if that's all on hold until after my biometrics appointment?

I've been presuming that nothing's going on, and preparing for a long wait, but would be curious to know what to expect.

Thanks!

They are looking at the paperwork but nothing will be approved until biometrics are done. ASCs are opening on July 13th I think, so you will still wait a bit for biometrics.

Generally - and I would expect that to be the case here unless the local ASC is not opening for an extended period of time still - biometrics are required in order to proceed with EAD processing.

There are some reports of EADs being issued recently without biometrics due to the closures.

ASCs are opening back up in a phased, as-local-conditions-permit, approach. As such, I would expect biometrics to be required again for most people now.
