Hello everyone, good to be back on here.
My leadership wants me to apply for my citizenship N-400 based on my active duty military service which i am very interested in doing :), we have been collecting documents needed and it is almost complete and ready for submission, on the N-400 form there is a part that has input boxes for legal change of name, i want to know if i would like to change part of my name do i just fill that part with my new desired name or are there more strings attached, anyone who has an idea should please shed more light so i can understand.

Thank You.

Acc to p. 5 of the pdf instructions for the N-400 on the USCIS website, "USCIS cannot process name change requests for members of the military, or their spouses, who are naturalizing overseas."

Even if you place 'No' on the Name change on Part 2-#4 of the N-400, the interviewing officer will ask you again if you want (or can have) a name change. Just be ready to hand out a copy of that page with the name change if the IO accepts it.
