We have yet to mail off our I-129F packet. It’s nearly done we’re just making sure it’s perfect and trying to get the timing right. Covid has us all in a waiting pattern.

The try a squeeze in another trip....the conditions are not favorable due to CoVid but not impossible...make it longer this time at least 2 weeks (Be careful down there) be intentional about the trip by documenting everything from boarding pass to tearful goodbyes at the airport..come back put them all together and send your packet off

I read through these replies and many of yall are suggesting the OP should take another trip to Nigeria to spend more time with her fiance. How exactly will she do that, or better yet, when will she do that? As far as I know, non-essential international travel is banned. Furthermore, Nigeria's borders are closed (especially to the US with the amount of confirmed cases we have). So how will she make these trips you guys are suggesting? I'm curious because I planned to spend this summer in Nigeria with my fiance but had to cancel my flight due to the pandemic.

Am I missing something? Has international travel opened back up? Does anyone know of others who have flown to Nigeria recently?

You travel through a 3rd country...yes although Nigerian borders are closed... neighboring countries are open and they can bother meet there...I know of Ghana and Cameroon..it does not have to be Nigeria...it can be a country they both have access to. As an American there is a lot of countries she can travel to without visa...as a Nigerian, am sure of ECOWAS countries without visa.

@foreverchris2020 you are the OP's fiance right?

Lol no I'm not the OP's fiance. That question actually made me chuckle a little lol. I stated I also planned to visit my fiance in Nigeria this month so I just relate to her situation since we are both filing K1 for our fiances who are both currently in Nigeria. I read through everyone's response to get insight to help my situation as well.

You are correct, traveling to a 3rd country would be a good idea. However, Nigeria's borders are closed and there are no commercial flights. The country is slowly reopening in phases (July begins phase 2) . So her fiance would have to travel by road to a neighboring country like suggested. Which might still be a problem because certain countries are not allowing visitors. Everything sounds easier said than done, & It honestly is just a mess.

The obvious solution is to spend more time together (I believe we all would like to be with our loved ones) but it seems unlikely at this present moment.

The borders haven’t opened yet but interstate travel has been approved to start July 1st and domestic air travel has been approved to start, they just haven’t announced a date yet. So probably by the end of July/ early August international should be open as well. So it’s still definitely possible for her to see him even if not in Nigeria they can go to another country. There are a few places that will be opening in July and August that won’t require a 14 day quarantine on arrival for tourists.

No, you aren’t missing anything that I’m aware of. I think these suggestions are being made under the idea that “once everything goes back to normal these are your options” it’s so hard to know anything for certain right now. Wait wait wait.
