i 864 Sponsors Employment and Income - Petitioner is currently furloughed

Hi,

We are in process of completing our AOS form  for CR1 and confused what to fill under Sponsors Employment and Income. My spouse is sponsoring me and currently is furloughed by the employer from April 2020 because of COVID-19. Should we update the session as 'Unemployed' since the date of furlough or is furloughed still considered as employed as we are still receiving the benefits from the employer. Please help. Thanks in advance!!

What does this mean exactly? They are still paying him? Or he is getting unemployment?

Then, he is currently unemployed.  He can list his unemployment benefits as income but as "unemployment income".  It is best to get a qualified joint sponsor.  This is a common problem now.  If he resumes employment before the actual interview, you can provide a new Affidavit of Support and ask that the joint sponsor's affidavit be withdrawn.

Ok Thanks..we are planning to proceed with a Joint Sponsor as currently there is no update on when he will be able to get back to his work.
