Ha! Trust me, I saw that first sentence 😁  ... then you started talking about "the cheapest option for parking when visiting the downtown LA field office," and I was like ... huh? 🤨 😂

So, same address, same building — gotcha! I had NO IDEA!

Thanks, @Scandi!

If you're planning on taking your car there, definitely park in that garage I mentioned. It's the best and so close, and so affordable. Especially when you have your oath ceremony later on - that street where the garage is on goes straight to the back of the USCIS building where the oath ceremony will be. It's the perfect place to park, and it's RARE to find perfect parking in DTLA, as you probably already know. 😁

It seems like they do oath ceremonies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so since your interview is on a Wednesday you'll probably have your oath the day after your interview if you get approved on spot. They do several oath ceremonies throughout the day.

Thanks so much for the tip on the "Aiso Parking Garage"! I've already found it on the map and made a note of it! Awesome!

Too bad about them not having Wednesday ceremonies. Oh well, coming back the next day is not so bad!

And thanks so much for the detailed description of your interview!! Appreciate it!! I'll have to do my own postmortem when I'm done with mine next month!!

Also, appreciate the encouragement and good vibes! Yes, I trust that my interview will be a breeze!! Thanks, @Scandi!!

Hey !

Quick question for Los Angeles new citizens - how long did you wait for ceremony after the interview in a case when you changed the legal name ?

I got my interview for 4/28 and it seems like they are scheduling ceremonies with small or no wait time (0-4 days), just want to make sure it's the same time for the name change case. I'll share my timeline as soon as I'll got it

Thank you and good luck everyone !

The name change seems to be done the same day as the interview (if you pass the interview, that is). My name change document was dated the same day as my interview, and yet I only had my interview quite late in the afternoon. The court house is the building right next to the USCIS building, so my guess is that they walk over with all the name change documents to the court house at the end of the day and have them approved and signed by a judge.

So there's no real delay if you choose to change your name, it goes just as quick either way.

I've applied online 7/2/2020 but originally was attached to San Bernardino office, so I've moved my case to LA together with regular address move

Thank you !

Hey !

Just back from my interview :

6:30 AM appointment - arrived 6:15 AM - huge line outside the entrance. Security opens the door 6:30 AM and checking everyone one-by-one (same procedure as in airport)

Checked in ~7am , waited for about 45 mins till I got called.

No outstanding questions , Civics ended after 6 answers

Spend some time talking about political activities due to origin of my GC but in general everything very straight forward and friendly. Officer asked why I'm changing my last name and why I've chose this particular one (same for my wife , she had interview same time and place and change last name for the same as I do)

After we finished, officer gave and Oath letter for tomorrow 4/29 (both me and wife)

Good luck everyone !

Do you remember what floor and what room the interview was being held in?

Probably depends on if your field office is Los Angeles or Los Angeles County, they're both in the same building but likely different rooms and maybe even different floor.

My field office was LAC and BOTH my greencard interview and N-400 interview was on floor 6, room 6024.

Im in LA city, got a notice to go to 8th floor, room 8024

Wonder if its a "special" room or that's where everyone goes as we went through stokes interview a few years ago

I am in LA city too. I also went to the 8th floor, room 8024 for my N400 interview. My interview was on May 5 at 6:30 am. I am still waiting for my oath letter now. I received a recommended approval notice, but there is no update for my account.

I saw people on the 6th floor who were scheduled for the oath sooner. One guy went on the same interview day with me, but he was on the 6th floor, and he has completed his oath. But his case is merged (GC& N400, 3-yr rule), and mine is 5-yr rule for N400.

I never know LA city and LA country are on different floors but in the same building. Thanks for the information.

Not sure why some have to wait longer for their oaths. I had my interview on a Thursday and had my oath the following Tuesday, I recognized a few faces from the interview day at the oath ceremony.

I filed under the 3 year rule, did not have a pending i-751. I did have a name change though. Los Angeles County.

I filed in April of 2020. I understand that the N400 process can take up to anywhere from 8 to 18 months in Los Angeles.

Is this a correct estimation?

THX.

You haven't filled out your timeline so I don't know where in the process you are, but you should've had an interview by now tbh, most seem to get an interview within 9-10 months of filing. However, some do wait longer and that's why the processing times show 6-16 months for Los Angeles and 8-18 months for Los Angeles County. So it's not until you're outside normal processing times (currently 16 or 18 moths depending on which is your field office) that you can send an inquiry.

Since you haven't filled out your timeline I have no idea if you have had your biometrics taken (or reused) or had an interview, so it's hard to give exact advice.
