What a great outlook. I am sure glad the colonial militia at Lexington and the Bielski partisans didn't share it.

Huh?  LOL.  It is not an 'outlook.'  I am an oncology nurse administering chemotherapy and immunotherapy to cancer patients for ten hours a day.  These drugs are expensive.  Some of them are >$50k per treatment. Radiation therapy is hundreds of thousands of dollars.  I've seen many bankruptcies due to a cancer diagnosis for uninsured/underinsured, and even some with decent insurance.

Walk in the shoes of someone like that, and then comment.

Universal health care is not free, it means that all have ACCESS to health care.  You might not pay when you go to the hospital, however, you do pay in other ways.  I much rather have universal healthcare than a layer of private insurance like in the USA though.

Often you do pay, depends what it is, UK for example applies generally to residents and there are charges, maybe not big and some areas like Dentists more theoretical. I have some knowledge of Dutch and German systems and they are very different to US and UK.

Accepting something "is just the way it is" is very certainly an outlook.

I have a different outlook.

I think that people who charge $50000 for medical care to keep a personal alive should be tried in front of a popular tribunal for crimes against humanity.

I'd rather drop dead than hand my hard earned money over to such blood sucking ghouls.

Well, that is the alternative many times.

Most of us would prefer to live. That's what I chose for myself and my family's sake, and would never second guess that.

Well, maybe it is a maturity thing, but I cannot always change the things I don't like.  To choose to "drop dead" also is not an option.

I can however choose to contribute by providing excellent and safe care to the people on the other side of it.

Do you think Benjamin Franklin was immature?

Most people these days are driven by fear and lacking in principle. That's evident all around us.

Good luck living forever.

My obligation to my family >> any obligation to my wallet.

If I have to pay the big-bad pharmaceuticals and fat-cat insurance giants to stay alive, so be it.
