7 pages of people being awful. So much for Visajourney being a supportive community. While many people on here are already through the immigration process, would you mind having a little empathy for those of us stuck in the middle? The OP did nothing wrong, and people just flew off the handle over a petition. People are genuinely trying to legally immigrate to be with their loved ones. May I suggest not making it harder by verbally being an adversary? So you dont agree with the rationale behind it....so what? It has ZERO affect on your life. It's so absurd how people tear each other down. No one could have predicted K1s would not be issued for 3+ months. We all made the decision to go that route with no clue that we would find ourselves in a mess. How about dropping the fighting and being supportive?

The OP and I tried to correct the petition, eventually it could be modified as I said many times, but I completely agree with you. If you notice, those being supportive are only those who are indeed directly involved with K1s. We are simply trying our best to be with our family, and this situation is already extremely difficult, but certain people don’t really understand how it can feel to be part of a ban. I appreciate suggestions and recommendations, but this thread was incredibly negative and full of criticism. A few people were able to suggest and I was happy about it, but most didn’t.The person who created the petition was trying her best, honestly. Thank you for being supportive and pointing this out, that’s the kind of energy that we need during these very difficult times.

No one......I mean no one, was criticizing the concept of K-1 visa holders being exempt from the travel bans....I think everyone here is supportive of that.....the "negative" comments were regarding the way the petition was worded .  This is not a K-1 vs CR-1 matter at all.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

People were absolutely criticizing the fact that the petition cited “immediate family members” and while some simply said it was not correct, others were offended by it and said they wouldn’t have signed the petition as they didn’t agree with that line. We have been told we’re trying to get equal rights as married couples, that we should’ve gotten married if we wanted to be immediate family, and so on. It was quite negative, in my opinion. But it’s okay, I’ve tried to send another version of the petition and as soon as someone will tell me it’s fine, I will ask the OP to create a petition.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the sole purpose of this petition simply because you want to serve your quarantine period in the USA versus a non banned country?

YMMV

Basically Embassies are not going to issue visas because of the travel ban in the impacted area, that’s the problem and why the petition was created.

I’m sorry that you feel this way. Try to keep emotions out of it (I know - it’s tough) and appreciate that members were trying to help making it a stronger petition. I also recommend to step away from the fact that any CR1 member is trying to bash K1, I personally don’t read that anywhere. The folks that have (correctly) pointed out that mentioning “immediate family member” in any part of the petition can hijack the cause is true. Many of those that are commenting have personally gone through the process, know the differences between visas and rights and legal terminology around immigration down to a tee, and have been valued advisers here for years. It depends how you decide to read the comment. I could hold a lecture now about communication models and sender/message/recipient, but that would go a bit off topic :)

Looks like some, like the OP, don't even have an issued K-1 yet: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=344591 Even meeting expedite criteria is not enough:

They must also meet a very narrow exception per Section 2 of the respective PP. Presumably, that happened last month for 1 K-1 applicant in Austria:

In May 2020, that was the only K-1 issued in the Schengen Area.

I appreciate your comment, I’m hoping someone will express an opinion on the corrected version, it has been rewritten and hopefully it will bring something positive.

I have been a reader and student here on Visajourney for 5 years and my honest opinion is that any referral to immediate family member will hijack the petition. Legal people (such as in Congress/senate etc) will throw it out simply for the mention, citing that K1 are not immediate family members. I would probably tackle it from a different angle - putting K1 on hold delays marriages and therefore family planning, fiancés have no rights if an emergency happens to care for their S.O. and so on.

Embassies aren't issuing any visas because routine visa services are for the most part still suspended (sans emergent situations).  There is no teeth to this petition until that has been resumed.

Actually some routine spousal visas are being scheduled, but in my case for example the Embassy told me I could’ve gotten an expedite, but unfortunately they cannot issue visas because of the ban, if it makes sense.

Scheduled is a far cry from actually interviewing.  Scheduling and subsequent cancellation of these scheduled interviews is commonplace

YMMV

so why do you have to come here and derail our progress or tear down what we are trying to do.

How are comments on an immigration forum in any way "derailing the progress" of your petition?

TOS review is in order.
