I have a query.

Commissionaire-North Alberta office refused to book an appointment for criminal check record for my 16 yrs old daughter.

They are not doing it for minors under 18.

Has anybody experienced a similar situation?

I dont believe a 16 year old can succesfully apply for a K1 visa. If you found this forum under a completely unrelated context, I would venture to guess that your 16 year old daughter is still considered a minor and would not be subject to or documented in the same way and adult would!

A 16 year does still needs a police check for any visa not a K1 but a K2, IR2, CR2 just about any visa.

. I know when I moved here with my kids my 16 had no problems getting his PC. Did you ask for the one Privacy act one?

I'm going to split your question off to it's own thread in hope members will see a new thread rather than one that is a year old.

I have submitted I-130 for my spouse, daughter and son. It is a CR-2 visa category.

Commissionaire office told me they will no longer be providing criminal record checks for minor under the age of 18.

The change first came into effect in November, with the Police Record Check Reform Act.

I had also sent an inquiry to RCMP.

I am waiting for their response.

You may need to email Montreal, they need to be made aware of this if this will be the case everywhere.

Its been two weeks now and RCMP has not answered my query. The Commissionaire has refused to book her appointment. Somehow she has managed to book her appointment with another services provider. They believe it is possible under privacy act when applicant is ordering. They booked her in 3rd week of July.

Lets see what happen when they will submit her digital finger prints for certified criminal record check. If RCMP refuse to run her criminal record then I will use their refusal as a proof to let NVC and MTL consulate know about this.

As a note the privacy act police certificate (the one required) is NOT a certified criminal record check.  It does require finger printing but those are not on the final certificate.
