My fiance is convinced that because of the upcoming election we will somehow be more likely to be denied for a K1 visa because he is a Russian citizen and there will likely be more bad politics about Russia. 

Is he in any way correct?

Does he have knowledge on who will win the election?  If so, then maybe...

 

Even when we were cold war enemies,  visas were being approved

Has never been an issue on the past. People also get visas from other countries that are sworn enemies with the USA.

In his own opinionated world, he is correct. However, based on facts, he is incorrect. Have him read over the policy for what grounds K1 visas are approved on. If he can find something about Russians being denied based on policital reasons, he'll have some proof to back up his claims.

Probably not best to show "paranoia" at the medical - but otherwise there are plenty on Russians and Chinese that have gotten K1's before covid.  We even let the English, Mexicans, Germans, Italians, and Japanese get visas and they actually fought a war against us.

Lots of Russian fiancées (including my now-wife) have arrived without issue in the last few years. No reason to think that will change in the next few months, presuming we get to the point where Moscow is processing K-1s again.

Yes at the consulates.   In Moscow all visa processing was been suspended.
