The steps require 2 notorized copies of identification documents. In NZ we have a notary public and a JP who both do notaries. One is free and the other is $100 per signature. Has anyone from NZ had to do this and whether a JP notary was acceptable? We are using a digitizing company as we are overseas and they request 2 notarised copies.

11 months so we are sending a police certificate

If he's not currently living there, then it is not needed. (Assuming he's not Canadian).

 

The police certificate in this case would be needed if your spouse has ever lived in another country for 12 months or more. The 6 months or more rule applies just for the country where he currently resides (other than the country of origin).

Hi there, we used the free JP for our documents and they were all accepted.
