So our email cancelling his appointment was false? It let me reschedule for the next day, but don't know if it will hold.

It likely wasn't false. The Embassy has contracts with others for visa scheduling and notifications. When it was time for my husband's appointment, we received a similar email from Zendesk, which the Embassy told us they hired to send out such notifications.

Are you going through them as an agent? Maybe that would explain it?

Was there a signature at the bottom of the email indicating who it was that sent the message?

A real US government domain for visa information is usvisa-info.com (yes, using a .com for this is a poor choice, but this is an official website).

Edit: The other possibility is they misconfigured their email system. Although that would be a pretty major oops...failed domain validation is often rejected or flagged as spam, replies go to the wrong people (although this particular email says not to reply), etc.

I'm trying to find if there is any legitimacy behind that email address but am coming up pretty empty. That doesn't rule out or confirm a mistake on their system, though,.

I hope so too as well.

As for that email address, I cannot find anything indicating it is legitimate. It certainly does not belong to any official government source. The domain owner and its mail relay belong to a private business and there's no indication of any coordination between them and the government.

At the same time, the email address that appears in that field is something that is set by software. I could easily send an email that appears to be from the same source.

Normally the email headers would confirm if it's legit or spoofed, but it also appears from the screenshot that they are actually sending the emails via a 3rd party (iContact). It's impossible for me to know if that is the software/service their consulate staff are using or not.

To see if the NIVs (including K1 under this category is being affected or not) has been issued, https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/nonimmigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-nonimmigrant-visa-issuances.html?fbclid=IwAR0foRC-zWLldGzLgIdZUZ_PrOYwe1u7a1GadnHOjP7Aiu4np2S8Je2Sy4A

That's the State Department visa bulletin. There you have the statistics of all the different types of visa issued (both IV and NIVs) from different embassies, different categories, different month, different year. They are all updated. That will answer your question.

also does say that the Secretary of Labor along with Secretary of State and Secretary of Homeland Security were suppose to review the EO no later than 50 days after the start date (Did they as i didn't hear of this)  to see if the EO was to be extended.

Those executive secretaries did what the Presidential Proclamation (PP) requested of them about a month ago: "DHS, which is advocating for the changes, and the Labor Department sent their recommendations to the White House Friday." https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/25/trump-broaden-foreign-worker-bans-276510

The PP says, "Whenever appropriate, but no later than 50 days from the effective date of this proclamation, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Labor, recommend whether I should continue or modify this proclamation."

How is that possible? Because I requested an expedite and they told me they couldn’t grant it because K1s are subject to the travel ban (the one of March)

But your ban was different- Italy is sort of under two bans- the first not allowing those from schengen countries in and then now the new executive order regarding NIVs. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone from Europe with an expedite.

Are you referring to the Presidential Proclamation (PP) from April 22? https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspending-entry-immigrants-present-risk-u-s-labor-market-economic-recovery-following-covid-19-outbreak/ If so, that PP affects certain IVs, not NIVs.

I think you will find because australia and New Zealand are considered low risk countries for Covid is why they are allowing those K1’s to go ahead. I know I read somewhere every country that is banned from flying into  the US Is also having a stop on anything immigration. And while k1’s aren’t typically immigration visas, the fact that you are from a banned country is enough to hold up processing.
