Also used to go to Carolina Beach near Wilmington when my parents had a place there.  Wasn't much there back then.

It has changed even since the early 2000's and not for the better. It has become a super tourist trap. 

 

We love Carolina Beach and Kure Beach but we will be staying at Wrightsville Beach this weekend since my Aunt has a condo down there.

Sort of shocked I didn't see Block Island on there but Westerly, RI is? My mom's family is from very near Westerly and I have spent time on the beach out there when I was a kid. It's fine but Block Island is like its own little homespun universe. I haven't been in about 10 years but I have very happy memories of riding bikes with my sister all around the island, eating popsicles in bare feet on the porches of little stores, so much sand in shoes, a gazillion cousins gathered at a clambake on the beach ... ugh. I miss it. We were supposed to go to back to visit my grandma in May but COVID19 cut that off.  It was going to be the chance for my mom's side of the family to meet Alex at last in person.

Just like the last such list -- too few Texas beaches, and a great many good ones overlooked.

I agree with the listing of Port Lavaca, although Indianola Beach is probaby what they mean.

 

Indianola was the site of a great seaport that rivaled Galveston.

It was crippled by a direct hurricane hit in 1875.

The residents rebuilt.

One of the strongest hurricanes* in history (to this day) turned the place into matchsticks in 1886.

The original townsite is now about 400 feet out into Lavaca Bay.

#101 is not a beach and assuming they mean Virginia beach they are also wrong, that needs to be way further down on the list.

Some of the best times of my life were had at Virginia Beach. The navy had its own beach officers club. They let grunts in also.  we could stay at damn neck or Ft story basically free.

 

This one time we checked in and had these really awesome 5 star quarters. When they figured out Army Captains were not 0-6's we got the boot

  They seem to have missed Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. 

 

  I'm not sure they are actually rating the beaches though. Seems like just the factors that contribute to quality of life in the towns themselves. If I just made my top 10 beach list, there wouldn't be any that have towns attached to them.

Currently at Wrightsville Beach and honestly the mask usage is about 50/50. But out on the beach it is 0. 

 

@laylalex you definitely need to do a East Coast beach because the water is so much warmer compared to SoCal

I know!!! I went for a walk on the beach at El Segundo last week (spur of the moment -- happened to be driving by and thought, why not, there's no one here because HELLO Chevron refinery on the beach ) and got absolutely soaked from my waist down when a freak wave crashed over further up the beach than I was expecting and I was totally freezing. Had to drive home to SM in dripping jeans. 

 

With my mom's family being from the Westerly RI/Stonington-Mystic CT part of the world, I spent quite a few summers out there. Misquamicut, Matunuck, Point Judith, Block Island, Cape Cod, Williams Beach, etc.The water is beautiful, so warm even though people don't think it would be that far north.

Went there when I was at Ft. Bragg long time ago. 

Left for a beach weekend with my buddies with only enough money for gas, food and beer. 

 

Sleep in the car, rest stops. No worries in the world

LOL.  Just checked.  Current gulf temp here at Naples is just over 84.  

 

I keep the pool at 88.

 

Oh, just checked.  Water temp Cape Cod,  63!
