I know ☹️

I hope our government change their mind and open up the border

Your best option is to find a flight to Dubai unless you are willing to wait for the process again.

Hello everyone I got my Cr1 visa in March and due to lockdown I couldn't travel to USA until now. The border will open 1st of Sept but my visa will expire on 24th of Aug. There's only 2 flight from Mauritius to Paris or London but there's a ban on Europe to enter USA if am correct. Has anyone asked for an extension how does that work. I send a mail to US embassy in Mauritius which I attached to this. I send a mail to the south African  embassy am waiting for a reply.

Thank you

Regards

Vanisha

As far as I know there is no absolute "ban" on travel from Europe (and other countries) as it does not affect LPRs, USCs and their close family members. Therefore as CR-1 (wife?) you should have no problem traveling via Europe to US. There is specific info about that on DOS site.

It makes me wonder if the person that replied to you (from consulate) was aware of the fact that you are close family member?

U.S. citizens will be permitted to return from the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Schengen area. The Department of Homeland Security has issued instructions requiring U.S. passengers that are coming from (or transiting) the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Schengen area to travel through select airports where the U.S. Government has implemented enhanced screening procedures. See DHS website for further details.

Have you checked the links that I provided? According to the information there, you shouldn't have any trouble entering US via EU.

Yes I did check it but I don't understand why the embassy told me we have a ban

You never know how knowledgable the person responding to you was. Besides for you embassy EU is probably not their area of interest so they may be unfamiliar with the details.

Anyway, you have official information from the Department of the State against information given by person X from the consulate. Which one are you going to trust more? The decision is yours.

Yikes! I’m so sorry, this sounds like a nightmare. I apologize if I misunderstood, but are your only options to fly into Paris or London or are their other countries you could fly into on your way to the US? I know this may be arduous and could mean much longer flying times, but I’d reach out to the consulate for the extension but at the same time research any other possible routes you could possibly take.
Best of luck and again, I’m so sorry!

HI dear yes indeed it's a nightmare. Because they are not allowing any Mauritian citizen to fly out unless I had a different passport. These  flight are only for expats who are leaving Mauritius to their respective countries. My husband send few mail to the US consulate in mru hopefully they decide to help me out to get on one of these flights. I'll wait till 1st July as many borders are opening hopefully they decide to open our border too.

I hope they will be able to work something out for you sooner. I know waiting is horrible! My husband and I waited 3 1/2 years before he could finally come! Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope it all works out!

Nairobi is opening their main airport on July 14th for international flights so you may want to look at that.

Yes that could be an option if there's flight to SA as our border is close till Sept

Hey, have you tried contacting your local embassy? Try to catch an humanitarian flight this is how my wife made it here two weeks ago before her visa expired. They would issued a letter giving you permission to travel. That’s how we did. Good luck

Hi the local embassy hasn't been of great help here. There is, an emirates flight on the 11th of July but I can't take it as there's no connection on the 12th of July. There's 2 flight per week to Paris and London but am not allowed to fly through schenzen or UK or Ireland. So am stuck here. I will wait till 1st of July hopefully there will be few changes.
