I was in AP since march 5 and my visa was issued on CEAC at 25 March but i got my passport on 12 June. I have just been issued with B1/B2 visa this month from #IslamabadEmbassyUSA, Now i am thinking on what to do as i have issued with one year validity which is quite astonishing and will expire in March 2021.

Can you answer me as below:

1: Why i was issued one year visa? What could be reasons?

  • Any particular reasons to it?

2: Should i travel  in August with it? What you suggest would be issue on Immigration during #Covid19

  • Yes i have few meeting scheduled there but would that work in such pandemic?
  • If you've traveled to US recently how was immigration response? Do they look for priority?

3: if you've traveled from Pakistan, Did you experienced any issue with immigration in Pakistan?

  • How was your experience? Which visa category?

Please share your experiences.

Looking for answers.

May I ask why do you think a visa issuance of one year is astonishing? Are you surprised because you are from Pakistan and we’re able to obtain a b1/b2 or do you feel it should have been longer?

You keep talking about immigrating and I’m not sure why- you should only be visiting the US.

No one can predict what the world will be like in August. Maybe COVID will disappear or maybe the US will finally ban all international flights. When the time comes you need to feel safe enough. You said you have a few meetings scheduled in August- I’m surprised as most lathe gatherings have been cancelled or not yet scheduled for summer Months. What do you mean “do they look for priority”?

Cant speak personally with immigration and Pakistan but I’m a little confused why a Pakistani would have an issue with Pakistani immigration.

Regarding 1 year validity, I have seen many friends around they have been issued with 5 years Multiple and i have never heard of 1 year validity before may be thats my weak information. Thats why 1 year validity for me is kind of new and seeking a reason why 1 year while many get 5 years within same category.

I am only visiting US for sure. I am not talking about Immigration in that sense but immigration in a sense of airport and entry immigration. I mean what is their stance to new comers now a days to US.

yes i have a meeting scheduled as that is reason i have applied for visa and being issued. On my safe side i have asked will they give priority to those who are US nationals coming back to US or they also entertain business visitors to US? By priority i mean being extra careful on entry.

Now a days Pakistan immigration are not allowing those who are visiting abroad (as my visa is visiting visa) but only allow those who have strong reasons to go abroad e.g going to their home, wife, kids, husband or job. Thats why i thought to ask what is their response on people who would visit on visit visa for short stay.

Thank you for clarifying. The embassy is able to issue you however long a visa as they see fit-  try to be happy you obtained a b1/b2- if you search on VJ it’s extremely difficult for people from your country to obtain. If you use it and don’t abuse it you have a higher chance of obtaining another in the future which is good.

Although there is a worldwide do not travel recommendation  the US is accepting visitors from places where there isn’t a ban. You would need to make sure your connecting flights are not via a banned country. You should also check to see if Pakistan requires you to quarantine yourself when you get back etc. again if you are planning to travel in August things will be changing.

US citizens and nationals are the only people Ever given priority/guaranteed to enter the US. Not even Permanent residents are guaranteed entry. You have a visa and can use it. You may be given a bit extra scrutiny at the port of entry due to where you are from but if you are truthful you shouldn’t have any issues. Depending on your past travel history may or may not be more scrutinized as well.
