I am currently waiting for an interview schedule in US Embassy Manila PH. As per DS-5540, I need to show a proof that I have a health insurance or I can get one 30 days after arriving in the USA. Can my husband (petitioner) add me on his health insurance coverage? Or do I need to purchase an individual insurance?

Usually the Spouse Plan option is the best for most people.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I see.. what sort of proof do I need to show the US consulate?

In filing out the DS-5540, section 4a asks if you will be covered by health insurance in the US within 90 days of entry.

If you will be covered by your fiance or spouse (after marriage) Include the information requested.

I even made copies of my health insurance coverage to take with her, just in case.

Thank you. I will ask him to talk to their HR, and see if they can issue a letter stating that he can add me within 30 days of arriving in the states & I will also ask him to send me a copy of his health insurance.

This is an excellent idea. If HR can’t/won’t provide a letter,  have him review his insurance company’s policies regarding the addition of a spouse.
Too, he could probably get his insurance company to provide a letter on their policies and timeline to add a spouse to the plan!

I added my wife to my health insurance plan for 2020 with the assumption she would be here this year (crosses fingers) and as part of the immigration requirements. Additionally, she can use my insurance in the Philippines as well which is good too just in case.

WHen the time comes, i will have the print out of my flex benefits with my spouse's name on it.

Might be free and a useful top up, seems she will also be going through a waiver.
