Good day friends!

I'm biting the bullet, and about to submit my online form to start the N-400 ball rolling.

I am the GC holder, and the sole source of financial support for my spouse (the USC) here in the US.

My question is about:

image.png.a53d5fd89b0dbcf2c2896063b3614aa0.png

We purchased a condo, for which I am the sole person on the mortgage. I did, however, put my wife on the Warranty Deed.

The question I have is this....

I have all the other documents in order, and ready to submit, except for this section.

I called our Accountant, who does our taxes every year, to find out if he can get certified copies of our income tax forms (we have filed jointly since I arrived in 2016), or copies of transcripts. I tried to get them myself, but for whatever reason, the IRS site didn't like my credit card number, or my mortgage loan number. I'm still waiting for a call back from him.

Can I submit a copy of the Warranty Deed, which has both our names on it, as proof required? I'd rather not have to send in the whole tax return, since that can make a huge file.

Your thoughts?

Thanks for reading!

Thanks JeanneAdil.

The property taxes are paid through my mortgage, so it only has my name on it.
I'm actually going to submit our taxes from 17, 18 and 19, along with the Warranty Deed.

Hopefully that should be enough.

I don't think the deed  alone would meet the requirement as it is not listed as one of the required documents.

Documents referring to you and your spouse:

a. Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certi cates of children; or
b.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certi ed copies of the income tax forms that you both led for the past 3 years; or

c. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.

I was able to do a quick claim deed to add Adil to our deed as my house was purchased before marriage and i would have had to refinance to add to mortgageand pay huge closing costs/  this was accepted as commingling to immigration when we applied for IR1 at interview (morocco is a bit harder and i had to commingle before he came)   and for natualization last year they accepted the same warranty deed (even though you pay thru your mortgage company , the tax bill should be in both names on the deed.

we did have IRS tax transcripts but those were married filing separate since he came/ filed married joint when he was still in Morocco

We also had a car loan and auto insurance in both names

That's why I'm going to include a copy of three years taxes. I was just hoping to minimize the size of the upload, that's all.

You didn't submit the deed alone though. You had the tax transcripts which is clearly an accepted document so the deed was additional proof- not the only proof.

Definitely submit what they are looking for; really not worth it to get a RFE or denial for something. It's fine there are many pages to upload. Good luck on the process.

Thank you! I sure don't want to deal with an RFE or denial!!

My big thing is studying for the interview test. If it were multiple choice, I'd nail it. I'm going to spend the next months studying LOL!!

One more question, related to this, if you don't mind.

When you submitted your files, did you do so online? If you did, were they separate files, or did you make one large file with all your required documents?

Not a difficult one / if you answer the 1st 6 correctly,   they stop and say passed/  mostly government and our 3 branches

just thank God we are only a few hundred years old and this is not China or Japan or another country that has thousands of years to study which makes us the easy one

Posted (edited)

I uploaded the absolute bare minimum on my N400 application and brought everything else with me to the interview. You are going to get one of those anyway. I also used the online as there was less change of stuff getting lost (like with my I-751 package and my K1 envelope).

As far as the test, it really is a piece of cake. The booklet, they give you at biometrics, has all the answers (except for some names of current government leaders) if it is not in the book, it will not be on the test.

Also be careful with some of the online study guides and apps. Some of them have incorrect answers, some of them have outdated info.

I ended up reading the book twice and went over the answers of the tests twice a day for 5 days before the interview.

The N400 was the most relaxed part of the whole journey. I did not feel like being interrogated or judged at any point.

Edit:

I just went back in myuscis to look at my upoads.

I uploaded ID picture and Marriage certificate. That is all I uploaded.
