Her attorney has no clue about Immigration Law,of course she can get the green card or apply for citizenship if her divorce is not based on abuse.Tell her to find a new lawyer.

Thank you very much! This message will take away her concerns.

Yes I told her that she need to find another lawyer but she was scared. He convinced her so bad that she was afraid to do something in another way I guess.

@Stillwinning!!!😊

The above my original post. Today when i logged into USCIS account. It says "On July 28, 2020, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR11922002704MSC, was assigned to an officer for response".

Before it was July 21st now July 28.

I think they are playing with my emotions.  The AP is pending since July 10th 2019.

Call them!
I did and they had spelled my e-mail address wrong in the reply so I never got the reply 🙄

Folks yesterday I had 2 cases approved that I filed in August,2019  and one that I filed in October 2019 approved, but I still have several I360 pending filed  in March and April 2019, that being said if you filed   your VAWA petition between August and October 2019 you may have your case  adjudicated soon.

Thank you for the good news.

Hey folks!

I have a lady who had filed VAWA year ago.
Now she is going to divorce but her attorney said she cannot file agreed divorce and she need to divorce with mentioning abuse. Otherwise she won’t get her citizenship.

Her attorney didn’t let her divorce. And telling her that she will have an issues.

So now she don’t know what to do.

He is charging her $2000 for divorce through abuse +$3000 in addition and $500/ hr  in that case if her husband won’t sign the divorce through abuse (and she said he won’t because record  will stay in his background)

So basically her attorney pushing her to file divorce through abuse.

Any advice?

@sandranj maybe you can give her advice?

Can she file agreed divorce and have her citizenship filed with no problems?
Or her attorney is right?

Thank you very much!

This lawyer is a rip off. I just signed my divorce and abuser did too finally I spend no more than $850.00 in NYC with did an uncontested divorce process because we agree on everything before sending. My attorney said it will not be a problem with my I-485 processing. Vawa being approved since December 2019.  Hope this help.

Hi Guys,

I submitted a online request for my case which is outside of normal processing time and I contacted my local Congressman. Today I received this letter. I don't understand if they are referring to the congressional hearing or the online request I made. Any thoughts?

As always thank you guys! 😇

I've received this same letter from the same director..happens whenever a third party makes an enquiry on my behalf..nothing to fret about. Just reiterating and protecting your privacy!😊👍

What is the normal processing time?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
