Hello everyone!!

hope everyone is safe and healthy. Congratulations to everyone, approvals, EADs, taking the first step to end the abuse... everyone!!

A little update from my end regarding C9 EAD + advance parole.

my EAD was due to expire 3/2020.

October 2019: EAD renewal and advance parole application sent to NBC ( yes, I know but my lawyer showed me his reasoning and I could not argue his point by saying my “internet friends say differently”)

MARCH 2020 : fingerprints were applied to advance parole application

Once it was out of processing time late MAY/JUNE 2020, I asked my local congressman to inquire and started an inquiry from my end as well.

JUNE 30: EAD and advance parole approved

JULY 22: card delivered at my lawyer’s office

now, the card was mailed, card produced etc all were under the EAD receipt, I am assuming it will be a combo card but will update you all Friday once I pick it up. Even if it’s not, 🤷🏻‍♀️ No one is traveling at the moment anyway so whatever.

I have not received any approval notice, but I think that was sent to attorney as well.

so this brings me to the backlog of card production. I am extremely lucky to get it so quickly 🙏🏼
It may have to do something with me informing my congressman that I am a RN working during pandemic 🤷🏻‍♀️ Although I don’t think USCIS as a whole really cares or perhaps the officer liked my congressman or was in a good mood 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or the 🌙 Moon was in a good phase 😂

Hang in there! have a great day ahead!!

Smiles 😊 congrats dear!🌹

Hello @dreamer1 Congratulations on your renewal. Could you please confirm if you paid the Ad fees along side the renewal fee?

I'm about to apply for the same next month or Sept. Your response will be appreciated. Thanks

mans for the advance parole 8 think, I can’t remember the amount.

I had my EAD approved yesterday, which was filed in MAY. My VAWA has been approved, so I’m just waiting for an interview. I’m very grateful that my journey has been pretty seamless, since I joined this forum. I figured out how to do things on my own without listening to my attorney’s nonsense at times. She too told me to send my first EAD to NBC, but I sent it to Vermont. I’ve proven her wrong since then.

Yea... I can totally see what you mean.
my lawyer has been on point about everything else till now though. Plus, I applied 6 months in advance, knew I will have 6 month automatic extension, that is a year to process, so I chose not to pick a battle and let him do his thing.

I had a plan B all along in case there are hiccups. Saved a good amount of $. I got in touch with the congressman’s office on Jan 2020, first to inquire if they changed address on I-485 and updated attorney on I-485.

QUESTION EVERYONE:  I am moving in next 2 weeks. I know I need to send AR-11 to Vermont with receipt of I-485 and I-360 and a cover letter, Right?
Anyone who recently changed address, please share your experience

Hi @Apolo will definitely reach out to you. Please do the same, so we can keep track

Hi guys. So I was wondering if when responding to the annulment do I say why I disagree with my husband’s allegation and provide my evidences there? Or just merely say I disagree. I was wondering if he’s going to get to see all my evidences off the bat.

It’s crazy how useless some lawyers are...

When I first filed i never got any receipt I kept going to the lawyer asking what was happening and he was saying that all is good I just have to wait...

Six months later he told me that he’s paralegal messed up and never sent my case...

Same thing happened to a friend of mine but he waited for 2 years

so folks always ask for proof that your documents were sent don’t trust words!

I changed address, but still received their letter from my old address thanks to usps redirect. Ensure you do that.

Good Morning

I have a question

My Vawa process was approved. I have a pending I-485 adjustment of status petition. On June 5, my lawyer sent the application to renew the work permit I-765 (c09) but so far they have not sent her the corresponding receipt. Days ago she called to ask about the delay receipt but, they explained that she has to send a letter to Vawa´s offices to get a response. I´m not clear why the delay and why she should ask at these offices if my process has already been approved.

On the other hand, days ago I sent the medical exams requested by USCIS.

Could someone please guide me on what should I do in this situation?

Thank you in advance for your kind response.

How long after changing your address did the letter arrived?

I changed address in March. They updated my 1360 the same month - USCIS received your correspondence and its reviewing it.

Sent them a letter requesting for a new prima facie, ead and also sent more evidence to them June 6th.

They sent the new Prima facie to my old address June 22, I received in my new address July 21. No update about this on my timeline

yes, I know but my lawyer showed me his reasoning and I could not argue his point by saying my “internet friends say differently"

I have to comment, bc this is exactly my case. haha

My lawyer has been on point about everything else except the renewal, mine too was sent to NBC. That said, I also gave myself plenty of time (not 6 tho, more like 4)

A friend of mine, whom I knew from a support group, also had her renewal sent to NBC. Her lawyer also made a sound argument stating the reasons.

There has to be a reason why all of them believe our renewal should be sent to NBC tho.. I wonder what it is. To say my lawyer is incompetent is unfair, she is far from that, she has been very helpful, compassionate, and I do trust her.

As for the changed address, USCIS IS ALWAYS A MESS, better send AR-11 and call them, too!

Hey!

yea, mine said that since my I-485 was pending from the marriage, and it’s a C9 category, NBC it should be. And there is a chart at USCIS saying just that... 🤷🏻‍♀️

when did you get your renewed card?

about the address change, I asked my congressman’s office to inquire if my address is the address on file... I did this like 5 months after I sent in the AR11.

Yo my lawyer said the same exact words...

I haven't received it, and it's eating me alive smdh

Mine expires in September, and with the 180 days extension I guess I should be OK...

My VAWA family, has anyone here ever had to go to trial to fight an annulment? Lord I’m praying mine doesn’t have to go to trial. Pray for me guys. Wish we could settle outside of court on a divorce but knowing my husband, it may be tough.

I haven't. But I knew one lady from my support group, whose ex abuser tried that BS on her.

1. depend on which state.. in the state of NY, it is extremely difficult to grant annulment.

2. the burden of proof falls on whoever files the annulment, in your case, your ex-husband.

3. if you do end up in trial, dont panic, he has to have beyond a reasonable doubt, solid EVIDENCE to prove the marriage was based on fraud. You can always, always have your counterclaim against his.
