Hello guys. How is everyone? I’ve been silent and MIA for a while trying to work my butt off ever since I got a job. But today, my spirit went rock bottom as I was served annulment papers from my husband. Such a nightmare. When will this be over my God? Guys what should I do now? I can’t imagine being in court fighting with this person.

You must fight the annulment.  You should answer the complaint for annulment mentioning what you agree and disagree with him, and ask the Court to deny your spouse's request for an annulment of marriage and file  a COUNTERCLAIM as well.

Dear friends

I have  a question that my VAWA was approved in the month of Jan 2020 now I am planning to file for the renewal of c31 work authorization next month and will pay the fees of $485 dollars.

Moreover my c09 work authorization along with advance parole is going to expire in the month of March 2020

so the question is if I applied for the work authorization under c31 next month Ie August 2020 and then  later on after 2 month Ie in the month October 2020  applied for the work authorization under c09 with advance parole will the USCIS  renew both the work authorization Ie first the work authorization under c31 category and then later on c09 with advance parole the combo card.

need some suggestions

You can only get one work authorization under C31 as per your approved I360.

Advanced Parole is a separate application, it is not automatically tied to C09.  You can apply for Advanced Parole and have the C31 card as well.

So I’m in California. We got married in Vegas. He filed the annulment paperwork in Vegas. Does that mean I’m going to have to go to a court hearing in Vegas? And does that mean I have to find an attorney in Vegas?

Do you know if I can retrieve Old text messages through my phone carrier because I changed my phone and no longer have his old text messages. I should be able to find the ups receipt and tickets but I need to prove also that he knew about my daughter before marriage right? Though he actually met her after we both moved in with him

You can call your carrier and ask them about that. Do you have any pictures with both of them? That would help your case significantly.

Yup, I have pictures of both. Thanks!

These evidence are going to be detrimental to fighting this annulment. Get as much evidence as you and I pray you will come through victorious. My ex filed a divorce in Nebraska even though we got married in NY and they wanted me to attend court in Nebraska, which I didn’t. But every state has there own laws so I’m not sure about Vegas legal practices as it pertains to divorce. But you can call the county clerk if you know which county you got married in and ask them just in case it becomes an issue. You have to think ahead and be one step ahead of your abuser. Good luck!

Hello , I hope everyone is doing well

So I’ve already talked to 2 lawyers , had online consultation due to COVID-19 and one of them told me that when I apply for VAWA I must stop working immediately until I get my work permit and the other one told me working won’t be a problem at all , I can keep my job I am really confused

I work as a server full time and cook part time I have SSN but it’s valid only with DHS authorization, and I pay taxes every year

Any opinions on this ? Also what do you think how long will it take now ( with covid and immigration slowdown due to furlough employees ) to get the work permit from the moment you apply ?  Thank you

Hello, unless you're working illegally there's no visible reason to stop work. I believe you have a valid EAD? May I ask how you got the SSN as the last time I checked Only non-citizens authorized to work in the U.S. are eligible for a Social Security number!

Hi

I had J1 student VISA when I came in the states and after one week I was issued SSN and it was valid only for 4 months , on the ssn card it says valid with DHS authorization only , when I applied for these jobs I only gave them my SSN and my passport they never asked for work permit or citizenship
