No it doesn't complicate VAWA at all..it's even recommended for ease towards obtaining your Greencard. Well it's possible your i485 is being synched with your VAWA...but the smart way to be sure like I suggested earlier is to enquire through your congressperson! If this is the case, that is..if it's put on hold, then you do not need to file a fresh petition!😊👍

If in case i need to file for another i 485 in the future, do you guys have any resources to follow or guidance to fill it up. Im thinking of doing it myself this time because for sure my lawyer will ask for a  lot of money again.

Thanks again for always helping us.

I really appreciate and glad that i found this group.

Hi Everyone
I hope you all are doing well and staying safe.

MY Timeline in brief-
i-360 and i-485 filed in december 2017
I-360 approved in december 2019

The case status for i-485 shows "Name was updated " after the i-360 approval
No update on my i-485 case since my vawa approval apart from Name has been updated .

I see people discussing about updates on file transfer to NBC or to local office.
This got me alarmed.Thats the reason i am posting here.
Any help or guidance or if someone can please share if they had similar experience as me would be highly appreciated.
because it's been more than 7 months since my approval.

Thanks in Advance.

 @sandranj @Stillwinning!!!😊

Hey dear..no cause for alarm at least at this time! Location N.Y...approval just 6-7months ago! USCIS do not always update every move, hence not everyone gets these updates. It's possible your file is already at NBC or local office. The best way to find out like I adviced earlier is to enquire through your representative. N.Y. takes so much time..I feel you..been there..done that!👍

Your words and prompt responses always calm me down the anxiety in this journey.

Awesome community here no doubt!😊 hey before you start thinking of how to file a fresh i485 be sure the status of the previous one! Ask your representative to enquire on your behalf. If you file a fresh one it may be denied. Know what's up with the earlier one first..then we can go from there..of course you can file it yourself if the situation demands!👍

Hi everyone!

I was hoping someone could offers some guidance and help with my situation.

I married my partner Nov '17. It was a bona fide marriage (a lease agreement with both our names on it, joint credit cards, birthday and anniversary cards written to each other, plane tickets to different cities we traveled together, our healthcare cards, too). I began asking him to start the paper work, but it wasn't until July '18 he started.  He then learned that he needs his taxes to proceed further with the filling.  I then found an accountant to help with this. He then started with the accountant and then stopped proceeding forward with it.  Every time I asked him to talk to the lawyer or accountant, he said he would or always had an excuse not too.

Keeping the details short, he started turning to substances/drinking to numb his pain and became abusive. Both emotionally, emotionally and mentally. I started feeling trapped, and didn't have many options.  I then had enough of waiting for him to move things forward with my documents and asked for a personal loan so I can pay off the accountant and lawyer.  I told my partner this and he really didn't say anything.  I sent in all the forms that the lawyer requested. This was about a week and I'm still waiting for my receipt to show they received my paper work.

I'm trying to do some research as what is the best path to take here.  Since everything is submitted, I'm waiting for my AoS. With the current global pandemic, who knows how long that could take.  I really need the ability to work, so I can get a job and work experience. But from my understanding with the VAWA, I may not have the ability to work because while everything is being processed. Or is this different, because I have already filed my papers.  The ability to travel is important to me, but right now it is the ability to support myself while the AoS goes through.   If I go the VAWA right, do I have to start over?

In the meantime, I'm trying to work on my marriage with my spouse. I'm going to therapy and I told him I'd like couples therapy, but truthfully I don't see things working out

I tried to talk to my lawyer about this, but they were not very helpful, and simply said "Wait until you get your receipt and then we can talk options"

Hi everyone. I m so happy to see so many approvals. It gives me hope someday I will be next. I have a question guys for someone who knows or has an idea. I checked all my papers and found that my I-130 and I-485 forms which based on marriage was denied due to I didn't go to interview. So for now I have only I360 pending since November 2018  and recently they send me third PF for 180 days. Lawyer told me not to file another forms and wait for approval. Reading posts from here I m getting confused.  Do I have to file I485 and I130 again? How it works? Since I have EAD from my asylum case I hope I can renew it through asylum again, but do I have to file I485 or wait for decision from USCIS on i360? Thanks in advance for responses.

You seem to have thrown a new light into your situation...the part where you said you don't see things working out is new...this is your statement based on empirical evidence..something you have gone through..and probably still going through. Well in this new light..I wouldn't advise anyone..not even an enemy to pitch their tent on a shifting ground! You first gave me the impression that he was just borderline abusive..due to his depression..anyway no one can tell you what to do at the end of the day..you are the one who's wearing the shoes and know where it hurts! Make up your mind. You can file for work permit i765 C9 category that will enable you work pending when a decision is made on your case! Also in future and personally..it's best to take advice from persons who are in healthy relationships in every sense of the word. People can't give what they don't have! I'm just saying! Well you can insist to your attorney, that you would like to file the i765 C9 EAD or you can wait like he said to get the receipt notice for the one already sent out! This journey requires patience..inculcate it into your mindset. For your situation...you need to make up your mind...💁

Hello everyone ,

I was approved renewal for my EAD since last March , in the meantime I moved , and notified USCIS of my new address , however they still sent it to the old address, the notice of approval was forwarded to me but not the card , since then I requested that the card resend to me , but it has been 2 months and I received nothing yet ,

Any ideas or recommendations of what should I do ?

Thank you .

Perhaps your attorney has reasons for saying you should wait for i360 decision before filing i485...whatever that is! But you are able to file a fresh i485 based on your pending i360..you no longer need the I-130! You can discuss with your attorney that you really want to file a fresh i485..or you can do it yourself..it's not rocket science!😊👍
