Congratulations dear.🌟😀 The interview experience is different for everyone..the officer is expected to focus on i485 yes or no questions..confirm your name..date of birth etc. Some officers want to ask questions on the abuse as reported by folks here..the officer I had(God bless him) was a total gentleman and focused on the yes or no questions on the i485 form. Just go prepared..be confident. The originals of the docs you listed above is needed. I wish you heavens best!😊👍

Not so sure on this issue..but I believe you have to be a permanent resident to get that benefit. Other public assistance will not affect you as we know VAWA petitioners are exempt from the public charge rule!👍

I got unemployment and food stamps in 2015 with a pending asylum application, was using EAD only to work. As long as you work and pay taxes, you can have all benefits. I'm In proceedings and got Covid19 stimulus as well. If you work and pay taxes , you can do it. Hope it helps

Hi @Stillwinning!!!😊

I'm green card holder through vawa .

I have received stimulus check by mail couple months ago and I deposited it in my bank account .

For USCIS does stimulus check lead to under public charge rule or does it will have any affect for Our naturalization in future .

No, VAWA self-petitioners are exempt from needing an I-864. Back in the day you'd file I-864W, these days you check a box on I-485 that you're exempt.

We're also exempt from needing an I-944 but that's a moot point since that thing got tied up in so many lawsuits that USCIS finally quietly just pulled that form from the page.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

Good morning everyone:

Can we Vawa filers file for unemployment while waiting for our 485 approval? If yes, would that affect the 485 approval?

Thanks!

Yes sure you can, unemployment works by how much you worked the previous year, so if you put in the hours and stuff last year and year before you can get it. My state wanted me to get it but I chose not to because I immediately found another job as soon as this covid started. Which I now work alone. :) doesn't affect me. But yes if you meet the requirements for unemployment you can file it. My state (Wisconsin)  just needs like you working for more than a quarter.

Actually I don’t know what is I-864 affidavit of support

letter write this list to me

Hey Claudia, you do not need the I-864 as a VAWA petitioner so don't worry your pretty head about it dear. As at the time of my interview, I actually went with I-864w a waiver of this form but it wasn't requested..in other words, we do not even need that anymore!😀👌 I believe you have everything you need based on the documents you listed earlier...go get em gurl!😉

LMAO!😛 they can never be as anxious or concerned as you are...naturally so. I worked harder than my attorney as well..I sent her my interview letter ahead of time soon as my senator gave me the update from USCIS! I made my attorney a believer.. LOL!👌😉
