Hey guys

My attorney and I are shocked. My LPR abuser just got his US Citizenship today with a felony E (for stolen property) for this crime he was sentence to 12 month in jail he only serve 9 months all this on his record, my I-360 Vawa approved on record, 2 order of protection from me and his current girlfriend on record, Domestic Violence allegation on courtย from both of us on record. USCIS immigration system sometimes just surprises. My question is can this benefit me on my I-485 or long run US Citizenship do I need to request a change on my approval category from a Battered Spouse of an LPR to USC Battered Spouse? Anyone know?? Thanksย

Does that mean USCIS use to do background checks on them ( Abusers)?ย

In this particular situation the guy was applying for naturalization, so yes USCIS did run an FBI background check on him.

ย

What's interesting is that certain crimes that would make you inadmissible or deportable do not necessarily prevent you from naturalization. It's not unheard of for someone to file N-400 as a defense from removal, get it approved, and since they're a USC now they cannot be removed anymore.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

Hey guys, I just got case update this morningย on my I-485 (green card application) to "New card is being produced". I didn't have to go for any interview.ย

My time line is as follows:ย

Filed 130 and 485 in NOvember 2016

Filed Vawa on May 18th, 2018, My I-485 was kept on hold.ย

VAWA approved November 27th, 2019.ย

I did not receive any courtesy letter or any letter saying that my case has been transfered or anything like that

Status of i-485 changed to "Request for additionalย evidence" on August 17th, 2020 (This came 3 weeks after soliciting help from my senator)

Request for evidence received in mail by me on August 19th, 2020 and it turned out to be request for immigration medical report.

Request for evidence received by my local USCIS office in Dallas (from USPS tracking of my mail) on August 27th, 2020.

Status of I-485 (green card) application Changed to "New Card being produced) on September 2nd, 2020 about 5 mins ago.ย

ย Now, I want to take some time off to thanks so many people who were my sources of support in this group especially @sandranj, @Stillwinning!!!๐Ÿ˜Šย and just about everyone who was of great help. I know I can not list up every one in here who helped but I just want to say thank you all. And for those who are still deep in the struggle, I want to say to you that, the best advise that I ever got from this forum is to be patient. Patience is Key. I wishย y'all the very best in this struggle and I will continue to pray for y'all as usual. God bless y'all

Congrats, very happy for you. I'm in Dallas too. My case was transferred to the local office last month. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

If he became a U.S Citizen then you can apply for Citizenship within 3 years.

If you're able to present proof it will be great..but they can see he's a citizen so like Sandra said, after you receive your GC, you're eligible to naturalize 3yrs from that date instead of 5yrs! Congrats girl!๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ™Œ

Psychological evaluations doย not have a set template but rather should contain enough details for it to suffice and be acknowledged! The trauma you experienced can not be exactly how I experienced mine..read through what you have there..does it talk about the abuse you suffered ? How it affected you? Your response to counselling/therapy? And lastly referrals if needed? Then you know you have what you really need!๐Ÿ‘
