Processing times just changed to 3 years!!?

The processing times for Seattle changed from 14 - 26 months, to then 17.5 - 26 months just last month, and just today it changed to 8 - 30 months. The receipt date for a case inquiry changed from April 2018 to December 2017, but the initial number decreased from 17.5 to 8 months.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Just keep checking back.

On March 1, USCIS began transferring certain cases to the Potomac Service Center (PSC) from other service centers to balance workloads. The affected casework includes Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, filed by F-1 and M-1 students seeking Optional Practical Training (OPT) and J-1 dependents.

These cases take longer and affects their timeline

So does this mean depending on the form depends the time? Will the it affect the i 130s too?

Here i thought potomic was a good thing lol

Issue with this is now USCIS governs itself with our fees (bad as it is)  do you want the federal government provide the budget and take over?

it's a no win situation from what i see

and seems anytime an organization wants fee increases (like USCIS has asked for),  they come up with scare tactics asking for a huge amount (2 or 3 times what they want) and we,  the people,  give them what they really want ( in this case the new increase in fees) and its a ploy to manage the system

I honestly dont know what the answer is but there is no denying its an inefficient system.

Will it now be worth applying for a K3?

It may not make sense to you but how I interpret it is if they look at the cases they completed 2 months ago (we know they were working with a skeleton shift) and they multiple it by the total number of cases they currently have it would take 32.5-42 months if they continued at the rate they were processing cases 2 months ago... which would lead me to believe whenever they have full staff working again these processing times would drastically decrease.

And another question is if old cases cam up how did all the 2020 filers get their approvals ahead of the order??

K3 is just about extinct (others will comment on this)

you just applied in March / this is going to take time and a lot of patience

you aren't going to get an interview till 2021 (check out timelines for your country of others going thru this) normal times were over a year before the covid 19

Unfortunately I don't think it is necessarily "first in, first out". People that have RFE's make the workers have to look over the case at least twice, it slows the process down for everyone.

Yes know way to know. I guess we wait it out. The really crappy part is the travel bans. I don't mind waiting but a visit or 2 would be great.

Its disheartening. Just when we are happy that USCIS is updating their data progressively, they came dwindling retrogressively. We hope they don't delay too much. We submitted our petition Dec. 2019, got NOA1 Feb, expecting NOA 2 and then this update smh

without knowing why only can suspect the person (alien) might have been a health care provider/  our government did announce these would be considered fast but again only a guess as none of us can understand some of the workings of these offices and they don't really tell us much about our cases

yep

in 2009 applied for K1 (denied even though i had spent a month with him and his family) and the interview was in November (same year)/ now taking about a year for most but they say that is because of the increase in applications and now USCIS has a put a hiring freeze in place

CR1 in 2010 was taking so long lawyer called and was told maybe our case was one of the ones ruined by a water main pipe in the USCIS office that broke flooding and destroying many packets ( no officer had notified the lawyer of this possibility)

RFE of 4 pages came after that and responded with a 25 pound package that was recd by USCIS and sent out to NVC 2 days later (no one had time to look at it let alone read it) and my lawyer said i would not hear from USCIS for months after they went over the RFE

next case was 10 months in nebraska and then sent to missouri for faster processing (another 6 months)

so, now i have ranted

sorry but (removed) happens

I will however email my congressman and encourage him to urge them to get the funding to USCIS and work on their terrible inefficiency.

I think we all should.

I just called my Representative and will call both Senator's offices as well but my primary concern was with funding not inefficiency.
