We had a 1 pm appointment and arrived at 12 pm. They told us to come back 5 minutes before 1 with a copy of the email stating we had an appointment that day. Well, we didn't have that, so luckily we had enough time to run to an Internet place and print it out!

Once we got into the embassy we took a number and waited for the interview. First, they take your paperwork. Since this embassy required us to send in all the paperwork before the interview, they didn't ask to see everything. They asked for D156, D230, D256k, D157, I134, original police certificates, original birth certificate, and all of his passports (which were returned, except for the recent one that will have the visa in it). They DID NOT ask for any proof of our relationship, or our pictures!! They of course had already seen that, but I was suprised they didn't want to see orginal photos and evidence, especially since the photocopies of the pictures we sent in were pretty bad. After about a half an hour we had the interview with the consul.

I had the feeling that they had already approved us before we sat down. He asked if we wanted the interview in Spanish or English, my fiance (Argentine) chose Spanish because he was really nervous. (Even though his english is great.) He asked us very few questions. He asked me (USC) more questions that my fiance about sort of unrelated subjects, like my work. He seemed concerned about how much money I had/made, but was satisified in the end. He asked what type of wedding we were having, if both of my (divorced) parents would be there, if my fiance was nervous to mve to NYC, and other seemingly polite but random questions. While he was doing this he was signing papers, and then after maybe 7 minutes he told us to pay the $100 fee, and he handed us a paper and gave us instructions about how DHL would mail us the visa, not to open the big envelope, and ended by saying, "good luck in New York!"

It went by so quickly and smoothly it was almost anti-climactic!! What a relief!!

SOME ADVICE...

I don't know why our case went so smoothly, but the advice I would give anyone else in this process is to have everything VERY organized. Start out each packet with a letter (like VJ reccomends) listing what is in the packet, and have things in that order. I seperated things by post it notes, and put post it notes that said things like "I134", "W2", "photos", "emails." I think this may have helped speed us through the process in terms of waiting times. Also when it comes to the evidence part, I included a letter explaining the types of evidence, and what they meant to our relationship. For example, I moved in with my fiance on X date, and my bank records show ATM withdrawls from an ATM close to his address from X date to the present. I highlighted all important data- like the specific calls on phone bills.

Good luck to everyone, and best wishes. Also, thank you to those who have offered advice along the way, and I am sure we will still need it as we move towards the next steps in this process.
