k1 visa - help finding TB specialist

Hi everyone,

I'm at the last step of the k1 visa (my interview was supposed to be early April). The doctor that did my exam, Dr. Lee, has been very uninformative. I found out right before everything shut down that my chest x-ray was inconclusive and I need another test to prove I don't have TB. The specialist they recommended is at the St. Michael's hospital in downtown Toronto and they are still not accepting non-emergent patients. I only just found out that this test takes two months to process so I'm very anxious to get started. Does anyone know of another tb specialist/panel doctor anywhere in Canada or the northern US that could perform the test? Or has anyone else had to go through this test and can help explain it? I have had a very hard time getting information.

I don't know anyone personally but can tell you it must be done by a doctor that is approved by the US Embassy so I would imagine that the person you were referred to is the only option in the area. Have you checked with the hospital multiple times? Hospitals are s l o w l y opening up for routine procedures.

Sputum collection and testing will need to be performed by a CDC-authorized facility. The panel physician would be the people who could give you a list of eligible providers. It may or may not be the case that there is only 1.

Thanks for replying. Yes there is only one in my area which is why I'm looking for a specialist elsewhere. My panel physician has not been helpful and said they only know of the one in my area. I am willing to travel to find another specialist who is seeing patients but I don't know how to find a specialist.
