Hi

so I am at the NVC stage of my process and have come into an issue.
when I submitted the petition I used the name for the beneficiary that ended with “jit” as some of the documents had it listed as such.

now I have uncovered that some documents list it as “jeet”, including the passport.

I think this will cause some sort of issue going forward, especially if passport says jeet and green card would list jit

what is my course of action? Can I let NVC know that this is what has happened? And have them put another name he goes by and add the “jeet” name in there?
the birth certificate got translated and it was done as “jit”.
I can have all the documents changed from jeet to jit but it will take some time.
just curious if anyone here ha seen or dealt with similar issue

thanks!

Two choices.  Use the passport name going forward, or change the passport name and use the new passport name going forward.  Unless you want to get a new passport issued, just use the spelling in the passport and the visa and green card will be the same as the passport name.

So in this case I would assume that I’ll somehow have to notify USCIS that the name on forms I’ve submitted should be Jeet and not Jit.

I’ll see if changing name on passport is an easier route.

I said nothing about notifying USCIS, because there is no need.  If the visa is applied for and issued in the passport name, the green card will be too.  Simple simple

So if currently the visa is not applied with the name that shows on passport, and I want to match the visa application to what’s on passport (change the end from Jit to Jeet on visa application), what are my options?
I don’t want to start the whole process again

Filing a petition is not applying for a visa.  Use the name that matches the passport at the NVC stage.  That's when the visa is applied for.  Decide the name she wants going forward.  If it's not in the passport now, change the passport.
