Hi All,

I am planning on sending my I-485 and I-130 forms sometime this week, but I still have to wait for my I-693 to be completed by a civil surgeon. Is it possible to send my AOS package first and then mail the I-693 afterwards? I know that I can take the sealed form to the interview, but I am afraid that USCIS offices may close again in the future due to COVID-19. So, I would like to make sure that USCIS has all my application materials without me needing to bring anything to the interview.

If sent together now, won't the medical expire by the time of the interview?

Does it take longer than 1 year for the interview to be scheduled? A friend of mine received his green card 6 months after sending all of his documents. I hope the COVID-19 situation will not change things.

It can take that and longer and has happened in some field offices prior to covid.  I'd recommend waiting for the I-693 courtesy letter prior to doing medicals.

I have heard that due to office closures, USCIS have recently approved some green card applications without interviews. I assume that for something like that to happen, USCIS needs to have all the required documentation including I-693 and evidence for bona fide marriage. So, I thought it would make sense to send these documents upfront in case, and hopefully not, office closures take place again in the winter. It might be a reasonable risk to take for $100, but I am still debating. Thanks a lot for your suggestion though.

No reason to listen to random people when you can easily search for the answer on USCIS website.

Thanks, Scandi. And what does the following exactly mean, “USCIS is retaining      the current maximum...but calculating it in a different manner”?
