Yes that's information I agree, but its basically the embassy saying we have no guidance on when we are reopening, I am referring to information or an indication as to when this will be, I think the rest of my post made that clear.

The recurring question is when will they reopen? The complaint is there is no information out there and that's why people keep asking. The information available from them says they do not have a date yet.

The answer to the question is readily available and easy to find on your own. It appears people are just not satisfied with it. That's a different issue entirely.

I know this doesn't really relate to you as it seems you finished the process a while ago.

Not really sure why this matters (nor is my wife finished with the process...the process goes on and on until at least naturalization)...?

The issue is the question has already been answered many times and it is readily available. Put in the 60 seconds of effort to find the answer yourself via Google. To be clear, that's not just some "don't burden me" type of statement...I truly believe those people would be better off putting in the effort themselves. Ask questions when needed, but always put in the effort to seek answers yourself first, including via official sources.

"What's wrong" is this is how rumors get started and incorrect expectations are set. Somebody "hears" something and passes it along, instead of quickly verifying the information from an official source.

The potential problem with multiple topics on the issue is they may not all be adequately reviewed by peers, and some may end up propagating rumors in them as a result.

VJ is pretty good with this, but there are some (many) sites out there where rumors make up more of the content than actual the actual facts. Getting correct info out there becomes a major challenge once that happens.

No issue letting off steam...although that does not entail asking a question either (or at least not seriously asking the question). Just let off the steam.

I can't speak for others, but I am certain my opinion on this subject would not change no matter where my wife or I was in the process. Because that does not matter....whether I was waiting for a K-1 or naturalized doesn't make the answer to the question of when the embassies will reopen change.

Because I have been through the this particular step in the process before, I would argue that makes it easier to look at it more objectively than somebody going through it now. I - like most people posting here - do know what it's like to be waiting for a loved one. Some of us longer than others...I know some people (ITT even, IIRC) have waited much, much longer than others.

There was never an option of having to answer posts vs getting to proceed in one's own case. They are completely separate matters.

This is all well and good but why is it that big a deal for all the caps etc??  So there may be multiple topics about the same subject but  in the scheme of things so what??  There is huge uncertainty around and peoples lives are on hold, now THAT is an issue, multiple topics on a forum you don't even have to read isn't.  Just give people a break, I wish my big visa problem was duplicate posts!

Moderator here.

So to give you an idea of the reasoning behind posting on this site, we do not allow for people to spam the board with asking the same question. It causes confusion and clutter. That is why we have guides, FAQ, pinned and mega threads, and specific sections. For example, this board was bombarded with people asking the same questions the week of the Executive Order. It was so much that questions were being properly answered in one part of this websiite but only a handful of people saw it because they were in another thread. That is why there is a megathread was created specifically for that order. So to adhere to the rules and policies of the forum, we ask that people do not ask the same questions over and over and if the question has been asked and answered already, the valued members of this site leads them in that direction. So duplicate posts is not allowed via the TOS you agreed to when you joined the site.

Hope this helps.

VJ Modertation.

The UK government have and are continuing  to provide guidance on when things will reopen (or things already have), that's the information I am hoping the embassies will provide to us soon.

This is the same issue that we're running into with the embassy. We're trying to contact them to request an extension, because our NOA2 will expire in July, but we're having a really difficult time contacting anyone in the UK. And the USCIS agent I spoke to said that it has to be my partner who requests the extension from the UK embassy.

I just simply don't understand your problem with these people.. just make a new thread that is dedicated for anyone who has any information / guesses about this and the problem is solved.. pointing out the most obvious is just so annoying too.. like we are just asking for any information / guesses from people .

*** One post edited to remove foul language as per the site's TOS.

A word about this site. VJ is the largest DIY immigration site for US immigration. The moderator team is small and heavily relies on the reporting system by other members. To speak for myself I, I help with moderating this forum while taking care of a household during this pandemic as well was working a fulll time job. There are days where I don't even have the capacity to check what is going on on this site. We do not sit in front of our computers 24/7 and read every message that gets posted. So there may be some content that is missed. We also have repeatedly made attempts to keep the interaction of this forum positive. We have the site's TOS as well as pinned threads telling people to post constructively. But that does not mean that everyone will obey those rules. We know that there will be times when inappropriate things will be posted and we hope that the member's of this site help us keep a postive environment. If there is content on here that is a violation of the site's TOS or is offensive, please use the report button.

Below are examples of our efforts to maintain order and to keep the positive environment. And as you can see, even with these efforts there are STILL numerous cases of people bickering and bantering. It is a constant battle and we do not expect that everybody will act perfect every day. Hundreds of new members join this site every week and there may be a few that have bad attitudes. We manage it the best we can.

This is off topic but you don't need to 'extend' your NOA2 (assuming you're K1 that is). You simply need to bring a petition affirmation letter to your interview - https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/required-documents/, see 'Petition Affirmation Letter'.
