Hello!

I mailed my i129F on June 4, but USCIS picked it up on June 8, which day would be considered the "file date?" Thank you!

Timeline

Assuming we're talking about filling out timelines, the "?" button for "NOA1 Date" instructs using the "Notice Date" printed on the NOA (and not the "Received Date").  I mailed on March 1.  NOA1 has "Received Date" of March 5, and "Notice Date" of March 10.  So I used March 10 as my NOA1 Date.

Receipt (received) date per the uscis .  Notice date can be days or weeks later

In the grand scheme of things, the NOA1 is not used for anything except the timeline here on VJ if you want to keep up with your progress which we hope you do. A day or two difference is not going to make a difference overall. I hope those who are losing sleep over this will now rest peacefully.

Not really A numbers for K1 are only found on NOA2

As @Greenbaum noted, it's largely irrelevant.

Since this site asks for the "notice date" in its edit timeline area, and builds a prediction model relying on consistent use, that's what I entered.  Ultimately doesn't matter.

It does if you need to determine your out of normal processing time

In the grand scheme of getting a visa approved, I would argue that submitting an inquiry on the 1st possible day v. the 4th-6th really won't make a noticeable difference.  But yes, the availability of that inquiry is affected by the NOA received date, and is why I limited my response to a discussion of whether the poster was asking about filling in a VJ timeline.

I know that you like to promulgate exactness in this process so I would like to point out you forgot to end your sentence with a period.
