Went for biometrics, now waiting...

My husband had his biometrics for AOS for his K-3 to GC on 5/31 and his case was touched on 6/3... now nothing!

It's been 3 weeks and no change... after reading various posts, it seemed like after you got your biometrics done,

the interview letter came quickly!

I'm starting to get impatient! :(

Was case transfered to CSC? MSC will do one of 2 things,

  1. They send the case to your local office for interview, and depending on local office it can be a few weeks to over a year before they send out an interview letter.
  2. they send the case to CSC for further processing and possible aproval without interview, or CSC will send it to your local office for interview.

The following chart will give you an idea how the various local offices perform on AOS, if your local office is on the left and case was sent to local office you should see interview letter fairly soon, if it is on the right then it can be some time.

My local office isn't listed on there. We live in North East, Maryland and I thought we'd be going to Baltimore

for everything... but his biometrics were taken in Dover, Delaware. It seemed kind of weird to me.

You can also check procesing times on USCIS site

Wow... some of those processing times (on the right, obviously) are insane. I knew some local offices took longer than others, but....!!!! :o

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

I couldnt even find Jacksonville Florida on there, but i remember when Edi went for his biometrics, he was approved for GC within 2 weeks after his biometrics. I dont understand why some places take way too long, and i still dont know why we didnt have to have the interview. He was approved for GC with no interview.

I am wondering how accurate those processing times are...

When I first filed my husband's I-130 last October, I checked the processing time for VSC

and it says they were months and months behind.... even now, it says they are processing Nov 2nd applications.

My I-129F & I-130 were approved in about 2 months.

I think those processing times are for worst case scenerios.

It seems ridiculous to me that based on those processing times, my husband's greencard will take longer

if he's here on K-3 than if he had waited in Turkey for it.

USCIS should have both processes finished in equal times, or even have K-3/AOS cases finished first...

especially since more money is being paid for K-3/AOS. LOL

Have you checked the timelines on here to see how long other VJers who've gone through your local office have had to wait? At least other people's experiences might give you some kind of idea of what happens in the real world, rather than in the world of USCIS's officially published processing times! :)

Our local office is Jacksonville, FL, but we have to go to New Orleans for my biometrics appointment. So, it's not unheard of to have to go to a different office for your biometrics.

Jacksonville was between 260 and 300 (or just over 300) and is a red bar. ;)

ETA: I looked closer and it's the first red bar to just pass the 300 mark.

Go to the USCIS website and check under "processing times", then pick the local office you want.

Go here and you can then choose your local office on the dropdown menu at the bottom. I think you need to have some patience, though - this stuff can take months & months, if not longer - it's still pretty early days yet! :)

Do you know if the file has gone to your local office for definite? Or have you been transferred to CSC? Or is it still at the NBC, as far as you know?

I am impatient!!!

Plus I want to prove my husband's cousin wrong!

He told me not to do the K-3, that it takes too long to get GC... he brought a lot of his family to USA from Turkey, and didnt do K-3,

but had them all wait in Turkey until GC was approved through the consulate.

His wife was shocked that my husband got to come to USA after 6 months of filing, when she had to

wait 13 months in Turkey.

I just want to be able to do the 'I told ya, told ya, told ya so' dance that debra messing did on Will & Grace

to him!

who cares about the GC, it's the dance that matters!:lol:

kidding, of course!!! :)
