Hey VJers, six and a half months after filing I received an RFE, actually glad to even hear back. After reviewing what documents we provided, which were criminal conviction papers and court dispositions mostly, it seems this RFE may be for police reports that I did not include in my packet as a result of it being an afterthought when assembling the packet initially.

Take a look at the RFE and let me know what you think.

Did you certify your court documents or just submitted copies ? If yes, looks like the issue is with police documents.

Court papers must be certified and police reports for each offense must be included and those do not need to be certified. Get those and return to USCIS and your case will continue to move forward. Don't miss any offenses even those that are expunged or sealed as everything in your life is in their data bases even if not in the court.

Yes all the court papers initially sent were certified and original copies. I plan on going back this week to get those again WITH the police reports. Thank you so much for your reply, hope to return soon with good news.

Hi. Please help. We received an RFE like this. My fiancé, the U.S. citizen wrote in the form that he had 2 DUI's year 2000 but failed to send any evidence. He request from the court for any record but his court records have been purged or deleted instead they give him a certified copy with a sealed stamp. Is that good enough or he need to send police records also? Thank you.

Your question has already been answered. Reread this thread and you'll have your answer. You have to do some of some of the heavy lifting with research.

Make sure you read the second paragraph carefully. If the records have been expunged, deleted or the likes... You need to provide a certified letter from the court showing that. I would also get a copy of the police report.

You also need to submit a notarized statement in your own words of the events leading to the arrest, initial charges, final dispositions, list of charges, location of the court and the punishments.

Here's some tricks to use when answering and wanting to quote someone.

First, when you use the quote button, go into a LONG posts that you are quoting and if there isn't a need to have the entire post, just delete a small portion of it, but leaving enough of the original post so we can understand what you are replying to.

Second, you can use the "@" sign in a blank reply box then begin typing the person's nick to bring up a list with their name and select their name. If it is done right, you should see a blue box around their nick like this @Greenbaum. When you use the @ sign you would use it in a blank reply and not a "+" reply.

Third is just to use the "heart" icon and select "thanks". Don't really need to say thanks in a quote. (using your example, you were making a comment and a thank you so the way you presented yourself is fine.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
