Does anybody know when the embassy in Colombia will open?

My husband and I are awaiting for the US Embassy in Colombia to reopen so that we can get his interview scheduled for the IR1 (our 2nd wedding anniversary is next month, so our CR1 application now becomes an IR1 thankfully). He is actually from Venezuela, so that is an added burden because commercial flights are very limited right now from that country and he needs to process for the visa in Bogota because the embassy in Caracas has been closed for now almost 2 years. He cannot even get to Colombia right now if he wanted or needed to. We submitted our documents this week to NVC and are awaiting DQ. We are eagerly awaiting services at the embassy to resume so that we can get him his visa and he can finally come home to the USA with me.

Any updates on the situation will be much appreciated. We have been physically apart for almost a year and this has been very stressful (not that the world doesn't know this stress, thanks COVID! 😒)

My fiance and I are also waiting for Bogota to resume interviewing. I’m checking the website of the embassy and their social media, and this site for updates. Our case has been at the NVC since June. Not sure if you read the other thread? Sounds like there’s some good news...https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/752088-another-colombia-embassy-live-stream/

We are in the same situation.  We were approved at NVC on Jun 2 but it has been 6 months and NVC is still showing case is there with them and has not been transferred to Bogota.  But then according to the thread you linked above it looks like Bogota is processing CR1 visas... slowly at least.  I'm just wondering why the NVC hasn't sent our packet to Bogota if they know they are processing CR1?  I don't want to get my hopes up, but this is good news I think.

The visas issued by Bogota the last two months certainly show they're attending more to IR1/CR1 than the summer.  But they're still only at 20% pace of issuing these as they were pre covid-19.

  IR1 CR1 Total Difference
January 52 22 74
February 55 61 116 42
March 65 35 100 -16
April 4 2 6 -94
May 7 5 12 6
June 7 1 8 -4
July 10 2 12 4
August 4 1 5 -7
September 15 5 20 15
October 18 4 22 2

Do you know how many fiancé visas Bogota has processed? What’s the source of the info?

I’m not sure if non immigrant visas issues are posted like this.  So no info on K1.

From the state department, goes back to 2017 - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html

Saw on FB this morning that the embassy is doing emergency appointments for K1s, not sure if they have been doing that before, or if it was just CR1/CR2s. Maybe a good sign?

Of course I don't know, but I saw the video.  They are still adamant that routine appointments won't be schedule, only emergency.  Sounds like much of the same ####### - we're going nowhere fast.

I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I'm waiting for my wife's cr1 interview. We are documentarily qualified since November. However, I have some additional questions.

I am starting a job in the USA on January 11th. Currently, I’m in Colombia. I’d like to do my child's CRBA appointment and renew my expired passport before then (it expired because we weren’t able to travel and the embassy shut down because of COVID).

Question 1: what are the steps for me to be the one present during the interview in lieu of my wife and child for the CRBA? (Paperwork, etc) We’re trying to avoid them traveling if possible because of the virus and I have to go to bogota for my passport anyways.

Question 2: How long does it take to renew a passport completely? And is this possible for me considering I need to be in the states on the 11th of January 2021?

Question 3:  How long does it take to get an emergency passport from the Bogota embassy so that I can travel back to the states on time? I’m trying to choose the best option for me in order to make it to my job on time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Walt

Thanks!

So, we were DQ on Nov 18, but that is the last communication we had from NVC. Does this mean our case is still @ NVC? I fear we will be waiting months for an interview :(

Incidentally, yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary, so our CR1 is now officially an IR1 :D

You can check here: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx but almost certainly it will say "At NVC" still with your DQ date.

Yes that’s exactly what it says, thanks for the information.
