I recently had a run-in with the po-po.  Guns drawn and aimed at me, though I had no idea why.  But I followed instructions, was handcuffed, followed by my wife, and we quickly cleared up the matter.  Know what I DIDN'T  do?  I didn't argue, back-talk the cops, nor did I do anything they didn't tell me to.  And I'm still here to talk about it.  When tensions are high, remaining calm is almost always the best way to behave.

someone reported a trophy husband without spousal supervision.

I'm sure there are already places drivers don't want to deliver to, but the economic reality is someone will if they want to make a living. Every driver in the country can't deliver to Coeur d'aLene.

We have one hospital locally that everyone wants to work at, and another one where no one wants to go. The latter has high turnover, but they are both still fully staffed. Nobody ever says only the crappy place is left, so I'd rather just sit at home and not make any money.

There will be the question of liability for a trucking company sending drivers and loads into an area where there is no enforcement of law.  I don’t think a lot of US based companies cross over to Mexico regularly even though it is allowed.  As to the defunding of police, the BLM movement (not the idea), wants abolition of departments.  You only have to look at CHAZ where they demand Seattle/Washington/The US get rid of police and courts.  Will that happen, probably not, we hear a lot of reference to the Camden model, and what was done there.  One of the biggest changes made there was a disbandment of the police union, but from what I hear now, the Camden department is close to being back to the same funding levels pre-reorganization, and the union is back.  If you want to look at the real goal of the Progressive Left, there is a good study done back in 2016 by the Frontier Center.

If one chooses to focus on the dozens of bad situations that happen with cops, particularly with bad cops, than to focus on the more than 50,000,000 police interactions that end satisfactorily, then of course one can make it seem like the police are out of control.

Well.. I would say if you have no idea why cops drew guns at you... and the wife? And handcuffed you both because of a misunderstanding on their part and not anything that you did wrong? I think that your encounter is likely one of those situations that shouldn't have happened, and if it had been under some slightly different circumstances may have resulted in bad things. If we don't shine a light on the bad ones and correct those mistakes how will we learn and grow? How will the situation get better? How will police improve for both in the public's safety and their own?

The problem is the movement does not accept the explanation of “one bad apple”.  This is systemic and must be destroyed.

I think my situation ended well because we cooperated and followed orders of the keyed-up cops, period.  Just one more example of the millions of interactions with the police that end well.  Thankfully for us both.

Situation sounds like it shouldn't have happened in the first place... and being 'keyed up' isn't an excuse for bad behavior.

The police responded to a call of a man walking around shooting an assault rifle.  Their presence was justified, as were their actions.

Ever busted a criminal? Conducted a traffic stop?  Stopped a crime in progress with a crazed druggie?  Chased a car in a theft in progress?  Being keyed up is what keeps cops alive.  No one said it excused bad behaviour except you.

Gotta love how the CNN interviewer still tried to insight something during the interview.

Easy to judge cops or soldiers if you've never been either. Those cops literally don't know when they leave their houses in the morning if they're going to be coming back. No cop should be expected to risk their life beyond what's necessary if they are threatened by someone who decides not to cooperate.
