Hello to all , mostly to  those of you that help our community the most with your time and advice.

I'm a US citizen, requested a I-130  for both my Cuban national wife and my stepdaughter who is single no married 10 year old  and I  both received notice of UCIS receiving such apps 26/August/2019.

Later on after a few months, I received the notice of action I-797 for the approval of the i-130 in behalf of my 10 year old stepdaughter only.A month has passed and I hear nothing from USCIS about neither approval or denial of my wife I-130 request case.We are worry that if both cases were to  been processed separate will became an extra burden, as my stepdaughter is a minor, and the logistic problems of traveling, etc that this will create.

My question is , is normal this time gap of a month or more between mother and daughter approval times for an spouse/family/kids I-130 request?

Any help will be a blessing , thank you so much.

Edy del Vallle, worried husband/petitioner.

Normal and common.  These are separate I-130 cases, and are processed separately.  You can wait and pay fees/submit documents for both once the last one has arrived at NVC.  That way, they can both go to the consulate as closely as possible.  You can then email the consulate to further coordinate the two visas.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes, wait until both cases are at NVC and request they be joined.  Once they are, their interviews will be together too. Your stepdaughter cannot get a visa before her mother, as the decision about her mother must be made first.  A 10 year old will go to the interview with the parent but the interview is about your relationship to your spouse and the spouse's eligibility.  Once the spouse decision is made, the child's decision is pretty much automatic if the paperwork including custody or travel permission from the other parent is in order.
