    As you can see above are the several contacts we have made. The question is what do we do close to 2 years?

Why do they say it's still pending? Background checks?

Are there any sort of red flags or anything that would point at a possible issue? Criminal history? Past immigration history?

Did you contact the ombudsman? https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman

After that, it may be worthwhile to contact an attorney about filing a Writ of Mandamus (WoM). If granted by a judge, they would be compelled to make a decision on the case. It may not be favorable.

Edit:

==============

Okay, there is a long history involved here.

and

Per the above, was there an interview of the petitioner ("Your application is currently in queue for an interview.")? What happened?

This case is definitely all over the place... From London to Nigeria then Washington field office... Being in line for an interview in Washington means you got into US and you married.

Possibly, or that they want to interview the petitioner. It's rare, but does happen in some more complex cases.

Note that the request for interview was in response to a case update on an I-130, not an I-485.

Yes there is history behind our case most have been sorted out, but what I don’t understand is why would they think I am in the USA when my visa was not approved

People think you're in the USA because you listed Washington DC as your local office in your profile.

Experienced members would not make this mistake as "local office" is always in the USA.  However, it is helpful when posting to make clear whether you are the petitioner, or beneficiary and any other critical facts like where you are now, etc.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

You are going to need to get them to send it to the NVC rather than the field office if you are not in the US.  This should be done by the petitioner.  Sounds like the wrong information was supplied on the I-130.
