You need 6 months validity at interview because the visa has 6 months (generally from medical date.)

If you want your green card in married name, change your passport before interview.  Green card in visa name, visa in passport name.   Bring both passports to interview if you've already completed the DS-260.  The name isnt an issue.

alright... so from your response i can just bring both my expiring passport and the new one on the embassy interview... (from most of the recommendations here, I can put my new passport on married as it wont matter). Now that we clear that my passport name wont matter... I guess my final concern is Ive sent all my original docs on USCIS and NVC with my maiden name... will that not impact any future processing? sorry if im overanalyzing this...

The original documents should have your maiden name.   So that is not an issue.

Yeah no need to overthink it.   Getting the new passport and putting the Visa in it just makes your life easier.   You can stop carrying around a copy of your marriage certificate while traveling.

After you get the new one you would only need to travel with your old (and new one) if there was an unexpired visa in the old one.    Mary went from a passport holder with her old passport in it and marriage certificate to a new passport and a paper copy of the Canadian eTA and her US and Mexican Green Cards.   Oh and 3 different driver's licenses ;)

No theres no issue with having a new passport at interview in married name. It's not uncommon.
