with a money order you can not check to see if its been cashed, you can with a personal check.

as far as tracking your progres,, once you recieve your NOA1, you can go to their site, start an acct and from there track your progress.

Notice of Action. NOA1 has your case number and received date. NOA2 is the approval of the petition, after which your petition will be sent to the National Visa center, and then on to the foreign consulate.

Its all here if you'll take the time to read up.

I recommend paying with a person check if possible but it doesn't make a lot of difference. For more China specific information and support I suggest you also check out http://www.candleforlove.com

I also recommend paying with a personal check - easier to know what's going on. You can usually see the case number stamped on the bank of your check (via your on-line banking).

Wow, $170 is so little after dealing with AOS

A personal check is better. We sent our package in April and still haven't received an NOA1 (receipt notice). Without the receipt number from the image on the back of the check we would not be able to check our status on-line.

17th March 2010 - Started the removal of conditions process

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

30th April 2010 - Biometrics appointment

I used a postal money order but didn't even bother trying to see if it was cashed. Isn't there something on the receipt with the order that gives you a phone number to call, I can't remember!

We used money orders and ...........waited for an NOA!

Didn't even look online for an NOA#.

I think it will be a while...I see the CSC is now prosessing December filers..I

think I have a while to go.....

Actually thats the cover thier a$$ date. Most people get through in about 3 months. I think April filers are currently being processed, not december.

But should your petition go outside of normal processing time, they won't expidite it until 6 months have passed.
