I can laugh at how much of a real couple we are. But I want to cry because I miss him so much. I haven't seen him in four months and that's the longest ever we haven't met. Also, I know people have their reasons.. and I feel for the ones who may be genuinely stuck in life. But I am born and bred in the UK, with all my friends, family, freedom and car here. Why on earth would I want to move to the US where I will ditch all that and drive on the wrong side of the road? Hell no. But it's where he lives rn.

Then you are going to be fine. Don’t plan out drama in your head. There’s enough real health drama going on now to keep you busy.

Hahah! You made my day. Probably the only time I've laughed.

The more time is passing, the more my doubts increase. I don't want to face that place again. An exam I feel I've prepared for but never enough. So intimidating. What if I start stuttering? What if my mind goes totally blank when they ask me a question which doesn't seem straight forward? What if they try and trip me up. I've been to the US twice on my esta and always abided by the rules and returned within weeks. But it seems to me they don't want to see it that way.

London isn’t a trip you up kind of embassy. Let me tell you the story of one of my favorite blokes on this forum from way back. He was so laid back, it was refreshing.  He was telling the story of his interview.
Interviewer: How many times have you visited the US?

Graham: I dunno....Lots!

Hahaha. I love it 😂. Just do you and don’t think every question has a right or wrong answer.

I think you'll be fine, OP. 🙂

I'm sure I read once that the UK has the lowest rate in the world of fraudulent visas. The USA likes UK and Germany applications the very best.

Erm.. life in the USA really is no better than life in the UK. The standard of living is pretty similar except the US has no NHS and doesn't look anywhere near as beautiful as the UK. And the UK isn't looney with guns. People just don't really need seek out this whole nightmarish USCIS process, that is unless they fall in love. The fraud rate is really very low for UK/London.

Yes, they will check you but they're just not mega suspicious on the whole. At no point in any of my dealings with London was there any attempt to trip me up. I see nothing from your explanation that would hold you back, though I understand your nervousness.

Just be confident, friendly and very polite. I'm sure you'll be fine, good luck. 👍

Distance is to love like wind is to fire… it extinguishes the small and kindles the great!
