Wow, the stack of forms is an inch thick (I-485)

I am going to have so much fun going through and double/triple checking everything before I fully sign and mail this abomination off in the next few days. Hopefully the envelope I place it in doesn't tear apart in shipping, not that I would have ever expected to need to worry about something like that, but yeah, it's literally an inch thick!

I'll give you a guess which form is around half of the stack.

Spoiler

The accursed I-944

I'm feeling relieved, but the battle is far from over 😪. Really hope we don't get declined or RFE'd for something silly.

Why so thick? My AOS petition was the thinnest of all my petitions, it didn't  require much at all, especially no relationship evidence which made it only a few pages thick. Is it the I-944 that takes up so much space? I obviously never needed that one.

And you're yet to file for ROC.

Here a very real example of a ROC packet.

They added a new form (I-944) required for filing AOS in Feburary, 2020. It has a lot of ridiculous requirements. Some examples include:

  • 12 months of bank statements for each bank you're with if you're using any assets to immigrate
  • Copies of any certifications, transcripts, and diplomas for any education received. Education Equivalency Evaluations for any certificates or diplomas.
  • a credit report for the applicant, even if you don't have a SSN yet.
  • a letter documenting when and how long you were or are on any form of public assistance, even if it was decades ago.
  • A copy of your entire health insurance plans documentation
  • Tax returns and certified IRS transcripts

I hope you get approved after all that..
