IR 1 expiring & COVID 19

Dear Visa Journey Community

I am writing to you to get advice concerning my current situation. So I was lucky to get approved for my IR1 visa from the consulate of Morocco after over one year in AP. We were planning to make the big trip by end of March /beginning of April. Unfortunately, Covid 19 happened and borders were closed. As of right now we have no visibility of when they would be opened again. All I know is that my immigrant visa will expire in August (and I highly doubt that travelling overseas will be permitted before). I have emailed the Moroccan consulate twice but without any kind of feedback.

I would like to know if anybody is the same situation and to go about extending my visa.

Find a way to get to the US before the visa expiration. You may want to go through Frankfurt or other points in Europe if no direct flights from your country.

If you are unable to travel, the US Consulate in Casablanca can reissue the visa, but you may need a new medical exam.  No Moroccan Consulate is involved in this matter. 😉
