I've been reading more and more this morning about rates going up and up in states that have opened up. Texas, Arizona, Utah and South Carolina are seeing numbers go up. It looks particularly bad in Arizona, and I read some frightening stuff about the Houston area. California is seeing an increase as well, which is disheartening as we were doing well for a while. I think we're opening up too quickly -- we're in Stage 3 now, and I do not feel comfortable doing any of the things I could apparently now do, like dine in, get my hair cut, etc. I want to wait until we've had at least 2 weeks after the protests end here... and the protests have not ended. We've agreed to keep our being out in the world to going to the grocery store and to pick up food, the occasional trip to Target if we just can't wait a day or two for delivery, and some socially distanced, outdoor socializing with groups of fewer than 10 people (we did one the other weekend and it was weird but fun).

I wonder if the increases we are seeing in some of the more extreme hot weather states has anything to do with people spending more time indoors?  Much like the Midwest and Northeast where folks spent a lot of time indoors in Late Winter, early Spring, it would be interesting to unrest and that aspect.

It would likely be due to people mass gathering and not giving a flip about being responsible meanwhile the states reopening too fast. I am still concerned about what I'm seeing in this state, and if the pattern repeats itself as northern states reopen it's clear what the factor is.

Meanwhile we only had 1 case today even though we've been open for indoor dining for a week, and hairstylists, tattoo parlors etc for a couple of weeks. 

 

Also it appears many, many of the new cases nowadays are asymptomatic as testing has been ramped up. There are not as many severe cases and/or deaths, so looking at sheer number of confirmed cases doesn't tell the whole story imo.

Meanwhile, we are staying in a resort right now that just re-opened today, need to wear masks if around other people but otherwise everything feels quite normal(well, and have to make reservations for the pool which is kind of odd, but due to capacity limits). Nice to be back to somewhat of a sane life.
