If we could have filed 1 month earlier we could have done DCF and had a 1 day approval on our I-130!!! Why is it the embassies were able to do 1-day approvals? Maybe we should hire those guys to process our petitions instead of USCIS. Actually, this goes back to my theory that CSC and other service centers spend most of their time working on other applications besides I-130 and I-129Fs...we probably get 1-5% of the work...low priority for them. That in my opinion is what is really holding us up so much. The 6 month estimate is just cover for this.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Why indeed! Either a) they think it's not fair to people that can't afford to pay more (I doubt this is the case because I don't think they care how people feel about things based on their behavior!) B) they are stupid or c) they want it to be just as slow as it currently is...in other words it's intentional for some reason.

But your guess is as good as mine...I'd even pay 10,000 or more for a 1 month process.

maybe we should send them a letter to "increase" the fees for I-130 and I-129F, at least higher than the H2-B Temporary workers.. so it will be more "benefit" to USCIS as well as to us.. I rather pay more than the H2-B workers, so we can get our applications looked at first.. :P

$10,000... you used to be able to buy 10,000 whoppers with that.. if a (USCIS) person eats 2 whoppers a day, that is only 730 whoppers per year.. you can feed almost 14 USCIS people for a whole year.. :D

Remember we're talking about the government here. They don't need to make money , don't need to worry about customer service. Their best bet is to contract the work out, with employees performing piecework.

you can tell government is not responsible by just looking at their budget  that's why they don't care about money, because they keep going into more and more debt every year.. if they are in debt, there's no need to worry about anything else..

They are raising the rates this month. It will cost you nearly $1000 for a change of status now. USCIS is meant to be self-funding. The fees should not be any higher than necessary - not all immigrants have the cash, but they should allow those who can and want to pay for expedited service, to do so. It's a market-driven approach and everyone benefits.
