My state has more cases than the PI with only 5% of the comparable population.  Seems pretty effective to me.

If you want to rant about a totally ineffective plan, talk about Brazil

I understand that, but they are getting higher and higher cases day by day, in spite of being locked down and most of the population under house arrest.

It seems as if locking down isn't the answer either.

Duterte is suppose to have an announcement on Monday regarding lockdown and quarantine, it seems as long as him or the mayors or the barangay captains are locking down areas or quarantining areas the USEM is going to stay closed to most visas interviews.

Looks like it on pretty steep incline to me https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/philippines/

Wowzer, I just looked at Brazil it's on fire.  I don't watch news or much TV and don't stay current with headlines news.

My state of Texas is almost 3 times larger by land mass than the Republic of Philippine and we have ton more cases and getting close on the death rate.  But I understand hospitals are getting more money by getting people on ventilators and ruling a death COVID also. so who knows.   I know of a couple deaths of elderly where it wasn't COVID but it was ruled COVID, and this is per the family.

And the per capita testing rate is pathetic.  1.4M tests given with a 50% positive result on a populationof more than 210M (double the PI population).  More than 600,000 positive cases and 35,000 deaths in the last month or so.

So maybe "house arrest" is more stringent than required,  but obviously Brazil got it way wrong even with some lockdown and quarantine measures

YMMV

What stage were they at? I know some people were stuck at issued, so maybe they wouldn't be subject to the suspension of routine processing.

They were post interview in AP.

And the hits keep coming.  Per this report Manila will stay locked down after June  15th

So it seems as long as the lockdown/quarantine in Manila area remains., the USEM follows suits and stays closed to most visa interviews.

Everything I keep reading on Facebook from the US Embassy in Manila is they won't open until the GCQ is lifted in Manila, they refer to that each time they announce the USEM is still closed.

So the way it's going with Duterte going to announce more quarantine and lockdown in Manila it may be a long time until they open the US Embassy in Manila for interviews.
