Hey guys,

For those of you who had an interview at the Montreal consulate, do they require translation of any French documents into English or they also accept documents in French? I asked the KCC and they were saying that they should accept French documents but it would be better to ask them directly. That's what I did and they told me they were not issuing visas at the moment lol!

Yes everything must be translated into English.

Ha! Thanks guys! I thought we could have the documents in French as long as the official language in the country is French. (removed)! Ok, just some extra $$$ to spend hahaha!

No extra money needed if youre fluent in both.  You can self translate.

Yup.

Now Montreal for some reason doesn't accept French documents... (mind boggling) but you just need a statement that says it's accurate and you're competent (aka fluent).

Awesome!! Thanks a bunch! Yes, NO idea why Montreal wouldn't accept French documents. That makes 0 sense!

Because it is the United States embassy lol. It doesn't matter the workers are fluent in the language of the country. All documents going forward regarding United States immigration you will need an English translation. Luckily you are fluent in English & French and can do it yourself. Bonne journee.

Unless I am wrong here, the Parisian one does accept documents in French.

Please note that all documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country from which you are applying, must be accompanied by certified translations.

Official language in Canada is also French hence the mind boggling situation we are describing with NikLR.

Yes it is but everyone who has done this before has needed the translation.  It just is what it is.
